“So I finally got the juice why the school favorite couple aren’t so lovey dovey any more,” Kaia says with a

smirk.

We were both seating on the floor near the bleachers, stretching out legs while she caught me up on the latest school drama. Mainly against my will, but I still listened.

“I would really love to pretend like I give two damn about a teenage love story and all, but it’s a hard role to play.”

My head lifts slightly as I turned to look at her, before sighing. “Then colour me intrigued.”

Kaia rolls her eyes at this. “Aren’t you just a ray of sunshine,” the sarcasm drips from her lips and I gave her a small innocent smile, as she scoffs, carrying on with what she had to say. “Anyways, got the full scoop on Sophie and Landon.”

I turn to look at her again, which was enough to urge her to continue. “So apparently, it was because of party,” she leans closer, lowering her voice like she was about to reveal classified information, “According to Amelia..”

“Of course, source from freaking Amelia Bells.”

“She knows everything, and once again besides the point. The point would be the fact that according to her Landon had walked in on Sophie with one of the guys from the team, and apparently, Sophie swears she has been set up. She claims someone deliberately made it look like she was cheating.”

“Sounds convenient.”

“Right? Good thing you made peace with them or she would have found a way to turn it back to you as a form of excuses, just like she did in the past,” Kaia scoffs, shaking her head. “Right now, she is going head to head with Lindsey.”

“This is also from Amila,” I mused out with a raised brow.

“You know she always gets all the scoops.”

“Amelia truly needs an hobby.”

“This is her hobby,” I nod, agreeing with her. “Sophie apparently caught Lindsey tongue down Landon’s throat, and might have gotten a bit further had she not walk in on them, the same damn night. Talk about it being a night if revolution, or heartbreaks..”

Kaia laughs, and I could tell she was enjoying herself. “With their massive fallout, I guess it’s kissing goodbye for Sophie getting back onto the cheerleading team after taking that long break for her little ‘personal

reasons.””

“I get less and less interested in whatever is going on between Landon, Sophie or Lindsey. I’m not certain they can sort their mess out themselves or drown on it, which ever suits them.” She smirks at this, shaking her

I had barely notice at first, that was until the noise around us changes, filled with whispers and giggles, someone actually squealed. following everyone’s gaze toward the entrance and small gasp leaves my lips when I spot Caelum standing there.

He had on a fitted dark athletic shirt that stretches neatly across his shoulders, paired with a shorts that showed off the lean strength in his legs. His arms were muscular without looking overly bulky, the kind of build that came from actually putting in the work rather than simply wanting to look good.

His hair was slightly messy, probably from running his hands through it

Kaia let out a low whistle beside me, “And there goes everybody’s favorite piece of eye candy.”

Fighting back the smirk, I rolled my eyes. “Please,” my gaze remained on him, and as if on cue, his gaze moved across the gym, finding mine.

Just like that, everything else seems to fade for a second as his expression softens. I couldn’t stop the smile that made its way to my face, and his morrows mine.

His smile bright enough to make something warm settle in my chest

Kaia makes a sound beside me, “You guys are disgustingly cute, and obvious.”

“Uh..” my gaze wandered round the gym to see we were grabbing attention. My face heats up slightly and my gaze returns back to him, to find him already making his way over to where I was.

Before he could get to where I was, Kaia pushes herself up, and coming right in front it me as she yells, “Delilah, watch out.” I barely had time to look up what a ball slams directly into her face.

“Oh

my God!” I scrambled to my feet as she stumbles backward, clutching her nose as several people around us gasped. Before I could even reach her, someone hurried over.

“I’m so sorry!” she cried. “Oh my God, I didn’t mean to hit her!”

Olivia

She looked horrified, at least, that was what her voice said. Her eyes told me something else, and for the briefest second, her gaze slipped past me, toward Caelum.

Then she looked back at Kaia. “Cael, help me out. I swear it was an accident.”

Caelum was already moving toward us, his attention went straight to me then Kaia. “Hey, are you okay?”

She groaned, “Feels like my nose is about to fall off.”

“You should probably get that checked,” I said, as she tried to stop the bleeding coming out with a tissue handed by one of the student surrounding us.

Olivia clasps her hands together. “I’m really, really sorry. I hope you aren’t mad at me, Delilah, Kaia.”

My lips parted ready to say something, and call her out on her bullshit, but Caelum beats me to it, glancing at her. “I’m sure Kaia and Delilah knows you didn’t mean it and has lost control.”

Something about his words irritated me, maybe because of how easily he showed he trusted her. Like there wasn’t even a question about whether Olivia had meant to do it, he was automatically defending her.

I looked at him but since he was looking at her, he didn’t seem to notice my mood.

Then his head turns back to Kaia, offering her a hand. “Come, let’s get you to the clinic.”

Before Kaia could place her hand in his, I grabbed it and they both turned to look at me with a confused look on both their faces. But I ignore it, as I say instead.

“I will take her myself,” my voice coming out colder than I intended to, and I mentally facepalm myself for acting this way.

Caelum expression shifts into something I couldn’t quite place, but I ignored it, pulling Kaia away before either of them could say anything else.

As I walked with Kaia, I glanced back once to find him stillstanding there, watching me, and Olivia stood beside him with the sweetest, most harmless expression imaginable.

I held her gaze for a second as she smiled to which I return with a smile of my own. Her brow furrowed as her eyes drifted straighte to Caelum, and all I could think about as we walk past the door of the gym..

What the fuck was it with me attracting boys who came with crazy, obsessive girls attached to them?

Kaia was okay after our trip to the school clinic, thankfully she hadn’t dislocated her nose or anything. And after what happened in gym, I might or might not be avoiding Caelum.

I hadn’t answered to any of his text, which was a bit childish on my part given the fact that to him, he probably didn’t even realise he had done something wrong. But still, I couldn’t help but be slightly pissed at how he so blindly trusted Olivia.

He has known her for nearly eighteen years of his existence, and you..Delilah…barely four months. I internally let out a groan. Either way, it was irritating.

During the cause of classes, I got a text from Leo, letting me know he was doing okay, and his had a couple test done before returning back to his room. I had considered reaching out to Caelum just to get more info on how he was doing, but decided I could get more detail when I go visit him in the hospital instead.

Leo had texted me that morning to let me know his appointment with the doctor had gone well and that they were moving him back to his room sooner than expected. I considered telling Caelum the good news, but then I remembered that he hadn’t answered my last message.

The last two period before the finally bell had been free time, so I decided to use the time on assignments, and read more than I ever had befor, even though there had been things that I couldn’t simply shove out of my head, no matter how hard I tried.

After the first part of the free period was over, I had lost the will to study. Besides, I had already gotten through most of my homework and do study at home. Which makes the thought if cramming even more information into my head made it feel like my brain was about to short circuit.
