Chapter 639-3
The elder who had raised the concern remained thoughtful.
“I did not say she was forbidden from knowing anything.”
“But you suggested that matters concerning Silver Hollow should be considered private in her presence,” the woman said.
“I suggested caution,” the man said.
“And I am suggesting that we should not treat one of our own as an outsider,” the woman said.
I remained standing beside my chair, listening quietly.
I hadn’t expected the discussion to become about me.
There was something strange about sitting in this room again after so many years. I had once belonged here naturally. I had once participated in these meetings, listened to arguments, offered my opinions, and watched decisions being made that affected the entire pack.
Now my loyalty had not changed, but my position had. I understood why some of them would question whether I should be present.
At the same time, hearing someone insist that I still belonged here touched something inside
My father finally spoke.
“I believe Faye’s input may actually be useful to the matter we are discussing.”
I turned toward him.
He looked at me with the same confidence he had always shown toward me.
I didn’t know what the matter was yet, but his words immediately made me more curious.
My attention briefly moved toward Jason. His expression remained calm.
He had said nothing throughout the discussion.
That was probably the wisest thing he could have done. If he openly objected to my
presence, it would immediately raise questions, especially considering that the council knew about our history.

I knew Jason well enough to understand that his silence did not necessarily mean he agreed.
If anything, the tension in his jaw told me otherwise.
I looked around the table.
“I appreciate you wanting me to stay,” I said. “And I am grateful that you still consider me part of this council.”
The elders listened attentively.
“However, I think Alpha Jason should have the final say on whether I should remain.”
The room became quiet again. I turned toward him, and our eyes met.
There was something in his expression that confirmed what I had already suspected.
He didn’t want me here. It wasn’t difficult to see.
