Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 765

Almost on instinct, Vincent snapped sharply, "Don't touch me."

The words hit Sabrina so suddenly that her whole body stiffened. She slowly tried to pull her hand away, but before she could fully retreat, Vincent grabbed her wrist again and turned back toward her immediately.

He sat down hard at the edge of the bed, guilt already written all over his face.

"Sabrina, I'm sorry," he said quickly, his voice lower this time. "I didn't mean to snap at you."

Sabrina looked at him with red-rimmed eyes, struggling to steady her breathing before she finally spoke.

"Vincent... don't take your anger at her out on me, okay?"

Vincent froze.

For several long seconds, he just stared at her blankly before apologizing again in a quieter voice.

"I'm sorry."

Sabrina shook her head gently and forced a faint smile.

"Vincent, I never blamed you."

Vincent reached out and pulled her into his arms. Sabrina rested against his chest while his throat tightened visibly, his Adam's apple brushing lightly against her cheek every time he swallowed.

"Sabrina... I keep letting you get hurt because of me."

His voice softened unconsciously, weighed down by guilt.

Leaning against him, Sabrina listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat before speaking softly.

"Once we're married, you're not allowed to treat me like this anymore."

There was a light teasing warmth in her tone, the kind that sounded almost spoiled, but Vincent felt no real emotion from it.

Even so, he still answered immediately.

"Okay."

He agreed without hesitation, and Sabrina smiled with obvious relief.

But even while holding each other tightly, the two of them were thinking completely different things.

...

Scarlett ran out of Vincent's bedroom and made it downstairs before nearly colliding with Lily in the foyer.

The second Lily saw her, she stopped in confusion.

"Scarlett, what happened?"

Scarlett avoided her eyes.

"Nothing. I'm leaving."

She walked straight past Lily and headed out the front door before Lily could ask anything else.

Left standing alone in the foyer, Lily watched Scarlett disappear outside, an uncomfortable heaviness settling in her chest for reasons she couldn't explain.

After leaving Ravenshade Villa, Scarlett flagged down a cab outside the gates.

By the time she got back to Theron Manor, everyone inside was already panicking because nobody had been able to reach her.

The moment Violet saw her walk in, she hurried over anxiously.

"Scarlett, where were you? Why didn't you call somebody?"

Before Scarlett could answer, Nathan strode over from the hallway. He raised his hand like he was about to slap her, but halfway there, his arm stopped in midair.

In the end, he couldn't do it.

When he lowered his hand again, his face looked even darker than before.

"Scarlett, if you pull something like this again, don't come back."

After saying that, he stepped aside coldly.

Violet immediately shot Nathan an irritated look before turning back to Scarlett.

"Don't take it personally. That's just how Nathan is," she said gently. "He was worried about you too."

"Okay."

Not long after that, Zachary ended the call.

That entire night, Scarlett barely slept. She drifted in and out of shallow sleep until dawn finally started creeping through the windows.

Not long after sunrise, she heard movement downstairs.

Since she clearly wasn't going back to sleep anyway, she got out of bed and headed downstairs early.

When she reached the kitchen, she found Violet already busy making breakfast.

"Violet."

Violet turned in surprise when she heard her voice.

"You're up early."

Scarlett smiled faintly.

"Couldn't sleep, so I figured I'd come downstairs."

Violet was standing at the kitchen island preparing breakfast, carefully working dough that still needed time to rise.

Scarlett glanced at the ingredients but didn't bother offering help. Her mind was too restless to focus on anything.

Noticing her mood immediately, Violet asked softly, "You're still worried about him?"

Scarlett nodded but didn't know how to explain what she was feeling.

The last message Damian had sent her was yesterday afternoon.

Since then, there had been nothing.

And knowing Damian the way she did, Scarlett understood one thing clearly.

If he were fine, there was no way he would've gone this long without contacting her.
