Lily didn't completely understand.
She couldn't fathom what kind of relationship required two people to never speak again.
But her sharp intuition caught something in his tone.
"What if she needs you?"
A subtle shift crossed Sebastian's eyes as he weighed her words.
In the end, he simply patted Lily's head. "I hope she never needs me again. I want the rest of her life to be perfectly smooth sailing."
Lily didn't get adults.
Their world was entirely too complicated.
She couldn't wrap her head around his answer.
But for some reason, even though her father was smiling and exuded this cool detachment, she felt an overwhelming, undeniable sense of sorrow radiating from him.
She couldn't quite put her finger on it.
The hospital room door opened, and Raelynn walked out.
Her eyes were still red.
Rowan had woken up briefly just moments ago.
But when Rowan looked at her, there was no recognition in her eyes. All she had said was, "Who are you?"
She had completely forgotten her own daughter.
But that was okay.
As long as she was awake, there was time to rebuild those memories.
"Mama, don't cry," Lily said, her heart clenching the moment she saw Raelynn's face. She jumped off the bench and wrapped her arms tightly around her mother's legs.
Sebastian remained seated.
He merely turned his head to look at her.
Raelynn gently comforted Lily before turning to him. "Why are you here?"
There was no longer any hostility between them.
She was completely at peace with where they stood.
She treated him like a passing acquaintance.
"She just woke up," he replied smoothly. "The doctors mentioned her brain function needs time to rebuild after such a long coma. She'll experience mood swings, memory loss, and even delirium. She might say things that don't make sense."

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
The croix family is evil...
