Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 271

Ivy Sawyer really didn't want to share a bed with Alaric Foster.

She knew she would grow addicted to the feeling of being in his arms.

She would come to rely on him, to fall in love with him.

But Mr. Foster clearly harbored no such feelings for her.

Faced with his request tonight, she had no choice but to refuse.

"I want to sleep in Stella's room. I promised her I'd be the first person she sees when she wakes up."

Alaric's handsome face darkened slightly.

He could tell his young wife simply didn't want to be near him.

Fine. There was no point in forcing her.

In the end, he could only acquiesce. "Go, then."

Ivy slipped out of bed and walked away without a single backward glance.

Alaric watched her disappear through the doorway, an inexplicable wave of disappointment washing over him.

But considering the girl didn't want to stay by his side, what else could he say?

Perhaps in her eyes, he wasn't her husband at all.

He couldn't let himself dwell on it; the more he thought about it, the more Alaric felt like a complete fool.

Yet without Ivy on the pillow beside him, he couldn't sleep well.

In fact, he barely slept at all.

Ivy suffered the same fate.

She lay next to Stella, staring at the ceiling until dawn.

As a result, when the couple met at the dining table for breakfast, they both sported heavy dark circles under their eyes.

Only Stella had slept soundly, and she was in high spirits.

Noticing her parents' tired faces, she puckered her little lips and asked,

"Daddy, Mommy, what were you two doing last night? Why are your eyes all black?"

The couple exchanged a glance but remained speechless.

Ivy turned to the child. "It's nothing. Eat your breakfast like a good girl. We aren't going to St. Jude’s Preschool today. We're going to the hospital, okay?"
