Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 274

Ignoring the executives, he grabbed his phone and stepped out of the conference room.

The moment he answered, Ivy's panicked voice flooded through the speaker.

"Mr. Foster, Stella was taken by your family. They said your mother wanted to see her granddaughter, so they took her to Foster Manor."

Terrified of how his relatives might treat the little girl, Ivy’s voice trembled, laced with a heavy sob.

She knew full well that no one in his family even knew what Stella looked like.

Alaric had kept her hidden for a reason; otherwise, his relatives wouldn't have failed to recognize her.

They had already hurt her more than once.

Ivy didn't dare hide the truth. If anything happened to Stella, Alaric would never forgive her.

Upon hearing this, Alaric's face instantly turned as cold as hardened steel.

When he spoke, his voice was laced with an icy bite.

"I asked you to take her to the hospital for one simple task, and you can't even manage that?"

Still harboring irritation over Ivy's recent distant attitude, his temper flared, leaving him entirely devoid of patience.

In his eyes, all she did was throw tantrums and act difficult, completely incapable of handling anything important.

He didn't even know why he kept a wife like her around anymore.

Refusing to shoulder the blame, Ivy defended herself immediately.

"Your family used chloroform on me and snatched her right out of my hands! Could you maybe go check on her to make sure she's safe before you start lecturing me?!"

She knew Alaric kept Stella hidden because his relatives treated her terribly.

The thought of those people abusing the little girl made Ivy sick with fear.

Without realizing it, Ivy had already come to view Stella as her own flesh and blood.

If anything happened to her, Ivy didn't think she could go on living.

Hearing the raw terror in her voice, and the breathless sobs breaking through her words, Alaric's anger dissolved.

He couldn't bring himself to scold her any further and instinctively offered a shred of comfort.
