Claimed By The Mafia Don (Ariella and Asher) novel Chapter 478

ASHER

The doctor smiled reassuringly.

"No. The results are good. Apart from a few bruises, everything looks perfectly fine."

I felt some of the weight leave my chest.

"But..." the doctor continued, glancing at the file in his hands, "we found something else."

"What?" Leon asked before either of us could speak.

Without realising it, I reached for Ariella's hand. She immediately squeezed mine, while her other hand stayed wrapped around Leon.

The doctor smiled.

"Congratulations, Mrs Romano." He looked at both of us. "You're pregnant."

The room went completely silent. I stared at him. Ariella stared at him. Neither of us spoke. Neither of us even breathed.

"What?" Ariella whispered, barely able to get the word out.

The doctor smiled again.

"The blood work confirmed it. You're pregnant."

I looked at my wife, and she looked back at me. Her eyes filled with tears almost instantly. Happy tears, Disbelieving tears. After everything we'd just survived... After almost losing each other... After nearly losing Leon... Life had chosen this moment to give us another miracle. I couldn't stop staring at her.

Slowly, I reached up and cupped her face.

"You..." I whispered, unable to finish the sentence.

She laughed through her tears. "I guess..." she sniffled, "...we're having another baby."

A laugh escaped me, A real one. The first one I'd had in what felt like forever. I pulled her into my arms carefully, kissing her forehead over and over again.

"Thank you," I whispered against her hair.

She frowned.

"For what?"

"For giving me another reason to live."

She broke down crying again. Leon looked between us with complete confusion.

"Wait..." he frowned. "Does that mean..."

I looked down at him, smiling despite everything.

"Yeah, buddy."

His eyes grew wide.

"I'm going to be a big brother?"

"What are you talking about?" I asked, almost laughing. "I'm ecstatic."

She smiled.

"You know I wanted another child. I mean..." I shook my head, still trying to process it all. "I wasn't expecting this, but I couldn't be happier."

I smiled at her.

"Do you want me to jump up and down like Leon? I'll do it. I'll run through these hospital corridors and tell everyone how happy I am."

She laughed through her tears and lightly pinched my side. "So dramatic."

I grinned.

"For you? Always."

Leon giggled beside us, his bright smile stretching from ear to ear as he looked between us.

I looked at both of them. At my wife, at my son, at the tiny life growing inside the woman I loved, and in that moment, after everything we had survived... after all the blood, betrayal, fear, and pain... I wanted time to stop.

I wanted to keep these smiles.

I wanted to keep this moment.

I wanted this to belong to us...

For the rest of our lives.
