Chapter 562 You Can Also Like Me

They set out a little after three. After an hour’s drive, they reached their destination.

“Are you sure you’re up for this?” Lynn asked, looking at Lucas, then at the mountain ahead.

There was still a half–hour climb to the summit, and the car couldn’t go any further.

Lucas replied, “I’m fine.”

“I’m serious. How’s your back? Will it be okay?” Lynn was worried it might be too much for him.

“Let’s go,” Lucas said with a smile.

He started up the trail first. Lynn watched him for a moment, then hurried to follow.

She moved slowly, stopping and starting, and Lucas matched her pace.

“Your stamina isn’t great. What’s going to happen later?” he teased softly.

“What do you mean, ‘later‘?” Lynn took a sip of water and handed him the bottle.

Lucas took it and drank from it.

“You need to get more exercise. Our wedding is in less than ten days,” he said casually.

“It’s just a wedding. It’s all for show,” Lynn replied flatly.

Lucas‘ hand paused for a second, but he didn’t say anything.

Lynn walked over to him. “Stand up, let me check.”

Lucas stood.

She stood behind him and slipped her hand under the hem of his shirt.

Lucas tensed, feeling Lynn’s soft hand against his skin.

“Hold still. I’m just checking,” Lynn said, sliding her hand in to feel his lower back.

Lucas‘ skin was warm, probably from the heat of the climb. Her hand, cold from being outside, was instantly enveloped in that warmth.

Lucas swallowed hard, letting out a quiet groan, his grip tightening on his hiking pole.

“Does it hurt?” Lynn asked.

“Then why are you groaning?” Lynn muttered.

Lucas was speechless. Casually touching someone isn’t a great idea, even if you’re a doctor. And in broad daylight,

“It’s fine.” Lynn said, pulling her hand back and smoothing his shirt. “Sit and rest. We’ll head down in a bit.”

Lucas obediently sat down, watching her as he did.

Lynn sat beside him, watching the moon rise on one side of the sky and the sun set on the other.

Lynn called his name softly. “Lucas.”

“Hmm?”

“I might always be like this,” Lynn said.

Lucas asked, “Like what?”

“Not very obedient.”

“Just remember to come home.”

Lynn smiled, “Your standards are pretty low.”

Lucas looked at her. “Then I hope that when you’re Mrs. Moore, you can also like me.”

The request seemed a bit high, but Lucas said it anyway.

It was getting late on the way down. Lynn slipped halfway, twisting her ankle.

Looking at her dazed expression, Lucas couldn’t help himself. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her.

Lynn was so startled she dropped her hiking pole.

It was as if Lynn had an invisible pull that drew him in, making it impossible for him to stay away. The moment he was near her, he wanted to kiss her.

Suddenly, a cow walked by and let out a loud moo right beside them.

Lynn buried her face in Lucas‘ chest, embarrassed and amused.

Lucas frowned. I’ve never seen such bad timing. Watching people kiss could give you pinkeye.
