Chapter 318: Chapter 318: New Variety Show

After a long while, it suddenly grew much quieter, but he could still hear the voices of children every now and then.

Gabriel had explained, "My agent booked a last-minute variety show for me. I’m out of town right now, and the signal isn’t great. Sorry for making you worry."

Chloe, however, was a little surprised.

She had no memory of Gabriel ever joining a variety show at the last minute.

But then she recalled how aloof and uninvolved she had been in her past life. ’It’s only natural I wouldn’t remember,’ she thought.

So, she just reminded him to be safe before hanging up.

On the other end of the line, Gabriel was delighted to hear his little sister spend a full three minutes telling him to be safe, and he hung up the phone with a grin.

The director had been looking for Gabriel for a while. Spotting him grinning like an idiot all by himself, he quickly waved him over.

"What are you smirking about over here?"

Gabriel shook his head, but there was a show-offy glint in his eyes. "Chloe just called. She told me to be safe, and she said..."

Gabriel recited every single one of Chloe’s warnings to the director, word for word.

The director: "..."

He shot Gabriel a look. "Alright, we get it. You’re just showing off that you have a sister. Now, hurry back. The kids are about to start rehearsing for the New Year’s party."

When Gabriel heard it was about official business, he stopped fooling around, nodded, and got ready to head back.

But after taking just two steps, he turned back around.

The director asked, "What is it?"

But to the director’s surprise, Gabriel didn’t look at him. Instead, he faced the cameraman following him and said earnestly, "That phone call scene just now—don’t cut it. Make sure it airs!"

The cameraman was completely baffled.

He didn’t know what to say, so he could only look to the director for help.

Gabriel hesitated for a moment after hearing this. Finally, he said, "I’ll ask Chloe for you."

But before Gabriel could even ask, he received a message from Chloe.

This morning, Chloe had returned to her apartment to freshen up before grabbing her backpack and heading to school.

She had just sat down at her desk when a figure appeared before her.

Chloe looked up. It was a young woman.

She recognized her—it was the class president, Jane Ford, who had collected the class fees last time.

"Class President, is there something I can help you with?" Chloe asked in a soft voice.

Jane Ford pushed up her glasses and said, "Our department is hosting an event—I hear it’s for filming a variety show. I know you’re a celebrity, so I’ve decided to give the spot to you."

Chloe was still processing this. "A variety show?" she pressed.
