Chapter 171: Chapter 134: So, Uncle Is the "Warrior

Seeing the caller ID, Su Chen saw it was a call from his dear old mom and casually picked up the phone to answer.

"Mom, what’s up?"

"Huh? What?" Su Chen shot up from the sofa, his face frighteningly cold.

Seeing Su Chen’s grim expression, Jiangyang knew something was wrong. He quickly stood up from the sofa and watched quietly as Su Chen took the call.

"Is it serious?"

"He’s in the hospital?"

"And he was taken to the station?"

"Fine, I get it. Wait for me. I’ll be in Wudu by this afternoon at the latest!" Su Chen said before hanging up.

"Trouble at home?" Jiangyang asked quickly.

Su Chen nodded, his face dark. "Something’s come up at home. I need to make a trip back to Wudu. I’m leaving things here to you!"

He then turned to Chen Fei and said, "Call the pilot immediately! Have him contact the airport and arrange a flight path to Wudu!"

"Yes, sir!" Chen Fei also knew something major had happened. Not daring to delay for a second, he pulled out his phone and called the pilot of the private jet.

"Do you need my help?" Jiangyang asked, also growing anxious. He was about to ask Su Chen what was going on when he saw him rushing out the door.

"No need, I can handle it myself!" Before he even finished speaking, Su Chen’s figure had vanished from the room.

Standing at the window, watching Su Chen and Chen Fei drive away from the state guesthouse, Jiangyang was silent for a long while before pulling out his own phone to make a call.

The phone rang for a good seven or eight seconds before the other party picked up.

"Yangzi, what’s up?" The voice on the other end was Xiao Chen’s.

"Brother Cheen, something happened with Su Chen’s family... Do you think we should help?"

Jiangyang quickly explained everything he had heard, down to the last detail.

"You... honestly, Jiangyang, what am I supposed to do with you? Are you brain-dead?!"

"Su Chen’s family is in trouble. It’s a no-brainer that you should offer to help! It doesn’t matter if he needs it or not; at the very least, you have to show your support. And you’re calling to ask me? Are you asking for a lecture?"

Listening to the angry tirade from the phone, a guilty look appeared on Jiangyang’s face.

’Have I been playing so much mahjong lately that it’s turned my brain to mush?’ he wondered, cursing himself inwardly. ’Why else would I call Xiao Chen to ask such a stupid question?’

"You handle this. If there’s anything you can’t deal with, call me again!" After saying that, Xiao Chen hung up.

"Boss, we’ve coordinated with the airport tower. The earliest we can take off is in half an hour."

"Mm, got it. Be ready to take off at a moment’s notice. Get us to Wudu as fast as possible!" Su Chen said, waving a hand for the pilot to go make preparations.

Seeing Su Chen’s frosty demeanor and recalling the urgency in Chen Fei’s earlier phone call, the pilot knew something was wrong. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be in such a rush.

He nodded silently and turned toward the cockpit.

The waiting was pure torture. When you’re in the middle of a crisis, every second seems to stretch into an eternity.

Finally... just as Su Chen’s patience was wearing thin, he felt the plane slowly taxi from the apron onto the runway.

Once the plane had leveled off, Chen Fei came over with a cup of coffee and some fruit and snacks. "Sir, have some juice and something sweet. It’ll help you calm down. Your emotions will affect your thinking."

Su Chen shot Chen Fei a surprised glance. ’Has this emotional rock finally wised up?’ he thought. ’He actually knows how to comfort people now.’

"Just put it on the table." Su Chen had also come to a realization. What was done was done; there was no use in panicking.

’It’s better to get my head straight now so I can handle this calmly when I get back to Wudu.’

The flight from the Imperial Capital to Wudu was about three hours. During that time, the flight attendant prepared a gourmet meal for Su Chen and Chen Fei.

By the time they landed at Wudu Jiangbei Airport, it was already two in the afternoon.
