Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 501

Chapter 501

Dominic had been staying at the hospital these past few days too. This was an important moment for Richie, and there was no way he was going to miss it.

He was eating breakfast with Chris when Gavin walked in from outside.

“Mr. Xander, Mrs…”

Gavin stopped himself.

“Ms. Scott is here to see you.”

Dominic looked stunned.

“Wait. Did I hear that right?”

Now that was a first. Winter had actually come to see Chris on her own?

Gavin ignored him and stepped slightly to the side.

Only then did Dominic see Winter standing at the door. She hadn’t come in.

“Ms. Sco…”

Before Gavin could finish, Chris had already stood up and walked toward the door.

“Why are you up so early?” Chris asked, stopping in front of her.

There were faint shadows under her eyes. Anyone could tell she hadn’t slept well.

She had only fallen asleep in the middle of the night, and now she was awake after barely six hours. How could that possibly count as enough rest?

Winter said calmly, “I came to watch Richie’s videos.”

Chris’s brows drew together slightly.

He had known she would come for Richie’s videos. But hearing her ask for them so directly, without even trying to pretend otherwise, still left a tight, uncomfortable feeling in his chest.

“I said I would show them to you after you slept for ten hours,” Chris said. He sounded firm, but in truth, he had no real way to refuse her.

Winter had clearly expected him to say that. Without hesitation, she said, “I can include my nap later.”

The darkness in Chris’s eyes softened.

Even while she was sick, she still knew how to bargain with him.

Dominic watched the two of them go back and forth, and a suspicious thought crossed his mind.

Had these two gotten close behind his back last night or something?

Why did the whole exchange sound so strangely intimate?

They didn’t sound like a divorced couple at all.

Then again, their marriage certificate had been fake, so technically, they weren’t divorced. They had only broken up.

But even then, this didn’t sound like two people who had broken up.

Chris handed his phone to Winter.

“The videos are in the gallery.”

Winter took the phone. The screen was still black. She pressed the side button, and the screen lit up.

When she saw the lock screen, she drew in a breath. A hint of irritation entered her previously calm voice.

“I don’t know your password.”

All at once, she remembered the time Chris had kept her confined at Blackwood Manor and taken away her phone. Back then, she hadn’t been able to contact anyone, so she had secretly taken Chris’s phone, hoping to call someone for help.

That time, she had tried several different numbers. She had kept guessing until the phone locked her out, but she still hadn’t figured out his password.

“Your birthday.”

His clear, low voice sounded beside her.

Winter’s hand froze around the phone.

An indescribable feeling rose in her chest. Deep down, she gave a bitter smile.

Back then, it had never once occurred to her that Chris’s phone password might be her birthday.

“Tsk, tsk.”

Dominic sat at the dining table not far away, utterly amazed.

Chris could have simply unlocked the phone before handing it to her. But no, he had to go through all that just to use the moment as a confession.

Since when had Chris become this smooth?

Using her birthday as his lock screen password?

Chris really was a hopeless romantic under that cold face.

Dominic lowered his head and played with his own phone. Casually, he typed in XX0627.
