He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 48

Yvonne hadn't screamed or thrown a tantrum that day, but her impossibly condescending attitude had made everyone suffocate.

A small-town college girl surviving on scholarships, desperately chasing after her wealthy son and spreading filthy rumors.

When she coldly ordered the Lane family to keep their daughter in line, it was the ultimate slap to the face.

Worse still, by the time Juniper was forcibly committed to the psychiatric ward, Nelson had already been shipped out of the country.

The rumor was that he couldn't stand her obsessive stalking anymore.

According to them, Juniper was so shamelessly, psychotically obsessed with a man that the Saint family had no choice but to bring in a psychiatrist. And the doctor's diagnosis was painfully blunt: Juniper was suffering from severe hysteria. She was so hopelessly in love with Nelson, and so rabidly jealous of Lydia, that she had delusionally convinced herself Nelson was going to dump Lydia for her.

Every single word had been a razor blade, completely stripping the Lane family of their dignity.

Beatrice had publicly slapped Juniper over and over, hitting her so hard she stumbled backward.

Their pride had been ground into the dirt. It was the visceral, paralyzing terror that the poor felt when faced with true, insurmountable wealth. No one had even dared to look Yvonne in the eye.

So why on earth was Nelson showing up now, trying to manage Juniper's affairs?

Brooks suddenly remembered how hard his sister had worked to escape, only to have her degree stripped away. Had something actually happened between her and Nelson back then?

If so, then his little sister was the real victim in all of this.

Fueled by a sudden, uncharacteristic burst of courage, Brooks glared straight at Nelson. "Yeah, she did. So what? She's my blood sister. It has nothing to do with you, does it?"

Nadine, standing right next to him, violently shoved her husband out of the way.

She was blatantly biased toward Nelson, offering him a sickeningly sweet smile and even batting her eyelashes. "Nelson, she gave us that money entirely voluntarily. We didn't force her. If you don't believe me, go ask her yourself. But honestly, I'd suggest you keep your distance from her. Men who get too close to her end up in bad shape. Just look at Corbin Xavier. Poor guy nearly died."
