He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 62

She stepped back from the microphone and pulled the appraiser aside. "The depth of that color just doesn't strike me as Colombian. Let's wait for the certification."

The appraiser nodded and went back to meticulously pricing the other incoming inventory.

These pieces had been purchased directly by their original owners, and many had already changed hands a few times. Consignment items like these were significantly cheaper than buying retail, meaning there was a massive market demand for them.

Seeing the studio finally getting on track, a soft smile touched Juniper's lips.

What they needed now was to expand their client database to secure more inventory. Once they had enough stock, they could run three live-stream rooms simultaneously, and their daily profits would skyrocket.

But where was she supposed to go to network with the right people?

That evening, Caleb called, mentioning he had an important meeting scheduled for the night.

Juniper didn't overthink it. Caleb had provided her with a place to live, and she was overflowing with gratitude and motivation.

The studio's operating hours were from nine to five. Once their inventory increased, they would likely restructure the shifts.

Since she was already off the clock, she took a shower, touched up her makeup, and headed to the hotel Caleb had specified.

The venue was incredibly upscale. When she pushed open the door to the private dining room and saw Nelson sitting inside, her first instinct was that she had walked into the wrong room.

She quickly stepped back, double-checked the room number, and realized she was in the right place.

The private room was intimately designed in a traditional aesthetic, featuring a narrow, singular table.

This wasn't a sprawling banquet hall for corporate schmoozing; it was a discreet space meant for closed-door negotiations. The soft sound of flowing water drifted from an elegantly crafted aquarium situated nearby.

Juniper's expression instantly cooled, and she stood rooted in the doorway.

Nelson held a wine glass, meeting her gaze with a raised brow—a silent, calculated provocation.

A suffocating wave of anger hit her. The spot on her shoulder where he had bitten her previously suddenly throbbed; it still bore a faint mark.

Caleb's voice sounded from behind her. "Mr. Saint, you've already arrived?"

Juniper forced a painfully tight smile. If she had known she was meeting Nelson, she never would have shown up.

She took a deep breath. "Mr. Xavier."

Caleb nodded and stepped past her into the room. Left with no choice, Juniper followed.

Nelson looked completely unbothered. He didn't bother standing up, merely sitting there with an air of detached arrogance.

Caleb's tone was incredibly deferential. "Mr. Saint, it's an honor to have you join us tonight."
