"Grandpa, I was the one who brought up the divorce."

"You brought it up? Stella, why on earth would you ask for a divorce?"

Stella completely understood his skepticism.

Stella kept her voice as steady as possible. "Grandpa, I caused some trouble for Jarrod. Besides, the contract we signed before the wedding is nearing its end. I just figured ending things a little early made the most sense."

"Nonsense!" Arthur Sr. boomed authoritatively. "What kind of trouble requires a divorce to fix? And that contract is just a meaningless piece of paper!"

Refusing to let Stella say another word, Arthur Sr. directed his furious glare back at Jarrod. "Whose idea was this divorce?!"
