"I'm a girl; Grandpa would never actually hit me," she said easily. "And I wasn't defending you. I was just telling the truth."

Jarrod watched her carefully. Her expression was completely open, entirely devoid of any ulterior motives.

"Stella, does that prenuptial agreement bother you?"

His tone was entirely flat. "You brought it up when you were with your friend at The Amber Lounge, and you mentioned it to Silas again today."
