Stella was genuinely surprised that Jarrod would call her at this hour.

Since Aria wasn't finished talking, Stella muted the call and turned back to her. "I understand the situation. I'll pass the message along to his girlfriend and let her handle it."

Hearing that, panic flashed across Aria's face. "Will his girlfriend be angry?"

Judging by Aria's reaction, she wasn't shocked that Lucca had a girlfriend. Clearly, she had seen Summer on the night of the banquet.

"His girlfriend is very reasonable," Stella assured her. "She won't get mad over baseless drama. Don't worry."

Aria still looked anxious. "I'm just afraid Mr. Sterling will be furious if his girlfriend blames him. I mean, I don't want to cause tension in their relationship over my trivial issues."

A strange feeling crept into Stella's chest. It almost felt as if Aria had cornered her specifically so Stella would tell Summer that she existed.

But seeing Aria's nervous, fearful demeanor, Stella figured she was probably just overthinking it.

"Their relationship is incredibly solid. It won't crumble over a minor incident. Besides, if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Once the misunderstanding is cleared up, you won't be bothered anymore. So whether Lucca gets angry or not is none of your concern." Stella's tone cooled slightly.

Aria nodded gratefully. "Okay, I understand. Thank you so much. I'm really sorry for troubling you."

Stella didn't say anything else and stepped outside.

Finding a relatively quiet corner, she called Jarrod back.

"Busy?" Jarrod's voice was laced with exhaustion.

Stella told him she was out having dinner with her coworkers.

"Have you been drinking?"

"Just a little."

"Send me your location," Jarrod said. "I'll come pick you up."

Stella politely declined. "That's not necessary. I barely drank anything. I can get back on my own."

"Did you forget what happened at The Amber Lounge?" he countered.
