His Plump Mate (Book 1: The 'His' Series) novel Chapter 677

Sinclair POV

“Sinclair, you are very quiet,” Angelo said, breaking me out of my thoughts. “Still thinking about your mate?”

I am. I hope he doesn’t blame me. Did he feel betrayal pains? Does he hate me now? I didn’t expect Julian to do that. I did everything I could not to let him. Angelo and I even timed it right, before anything could happen.

Behind us, there are two SUVs—Julian’s men. I am not shaking them off. They have to witness everything. We knew this was a real possibility. We prepared for this outcome. As we reached the company, it looked almost like a ghost town. No one has been here since Thalia, Kaia, and I were last here dealing with Little Ricky. At least, that is what I’m assuming.

We are really going to grab some servers, though none of it will be to help Julian. It’s all for show. I just need Julian’s men to report what they have seen. As long as it looks like I’m on Julian’s side, then when the ‘accident’ happens, he won’t suspect Angelo, and I faked our deaths. At least, not until the war.

“Stay close,” I told Angelo.

He nodded, and I led him to the server room. Two of Julian’s men were with us. I went down hallway after hallway until I reached a set of double doors. I knew this was the server room. I also knew Julian’s men wouldn’t know what the hell they were looking at, and I held on to that thought.

I opened the door and saw row after row of towers that housed multiple servers. I smiled and looked at Angelo. “Ready?”

“Lead the way, Luna,” Angelo said, clearly going along with optics.

I moved down each row, and the warriors were standing by the door, watching Angelo and me, reading the serial numbers to the servers.

“Got it!” I called out.

“This one?” he asked.

“These three. Let’s get started,” I said, lying about what we were doing.

One of the warriors then asked, “What’s so great about these servers?”

I stopped and turned to the warrior. “These servers hold the codes I created to fix the issue that Julian is going through at the pack right now. There is a hacker who knows what he is doing and is draining all of Julian's resources and connections. I know what’s needed, but to recreate it will take weeks. It’s already here, though. Why don’t you help us carry these out? They are heavy.”

“We don’t take orders from you, contractor.”

Angelo stood up, anger radiating from him. “Do you know that she accepted becoming Alpha Julian’s Luna? That is who you are addressing now. Don’t believe me, ask Julian yourself!” I sneered at the warriors.

I looked at the warriors. “It’s true. I have accepted Julian, and I am your future Luna. Perhaps you should confirm it, and that way, Julian will go easier on you when I tell him that you both didn’t know you were being belligerent to his chosen mate.”

The warriors looked at each other, and then one pulled out his phone. He dialed Julian. I don’t know what Julian said to the guy, but when that warrior hung up, he came over immediately.

“Luna, allow me to carry that for you.”
