That feeling was strange, as if they had met before.
But she was very sure she had never seen him.
"...You're much younger than I imagined."
Miles Sutton smiled, revealing a row of white teeth, and pulled out the chair for her. "I wasn't sure what you liked, so I ordered a hot oat milk latte. Is that okay?"
His gentlemanly gesture brought a surge of warmth to Virginia Caldwell's heart. She sat down and thanked him.
Echo introduced himself, and Virginia finally learned that the boy in front of her was Miles Sutton, and he was surprisingly only nineteen.
They were three years apart...
The subsequent conversation flowed harmoniously. The two chatted freely like old friends.
Miles talked about his funny experiences in an overseas recording studio, and Virginia occasionally chimed in.
Halfway through their chat, he suddenly pulled out his phone and showed her a poster.
"Virginia, look. Evan Chase is having a concert in Capital City next month. I got lucky and snagged two tickets. Do you have time? Want to go together?"
Virginia blinked and nodded with a smile playing on her lips.
If the boy she had lost were still alive... he would definitely be a sunny, passionate young man just like Miles...
Miles awkwardly scratched his head. "By the way, Virginia, when you have time, could you show me around Capital City? I've been living abroad and I'm not too familiar with this place. Plus, you're the only friend I have here."
"Sure." She simply couldn't refuse him.
...
Meanwhile, at the Vanderbilt Group.
When Chloe Caldwell pushed open the door to the CEO's office, Archer Vanderbilt was reviewing documents.
Hearing the noise, he gave a barely noticeable frown. He looked up, saw it was her, and said nothing.
"Chloe." His tone was flat as he lowered his eyes to resume signing the document. "Who she gets coffee with has nothing to do with you or me."
A flash of resentment crossed Chloe's eyes. She clenched her fists, wanting to say more, but three knocks sounded at the office door.
A moment later, Zachary Cole poked his head in. "Mr. Vanderbilt, a Mr. Sutton is here. He says he has an appointment with you."
As soon as he finished speaking, a young man wearing a black baseball cap and a white T-shirt bypassed him and walked right in.
"Archer." Miles glanced at the people in the office, his eyes finally landing on Archer as he called out to him.
The expression on Chloe's face froze.
What did he just call Archer?
Archer set down his pen, gave him a brief nod, and turned to Zachary. "Go make a cup of coffee."
Then, he looked back at Miles. "I have a bit more work to finish. Take a seat."
