His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 229

As Archer surged to his feet, his fists were clenched so tightly that thick, prominent veins bulged fiercely beneath his skin.

The grim reality suddenly dawned on Virginia. Her cheeks burned a furious scarlet as a look of utter horror slowly froze her features.

"Helena..."

"Ahem. I should go see if Mrs. Higgins has those rooms ready yet. Honestly, what is taking her so long?"

Helena practically sprinted away, vanishing at the top of the stairs before they could say another word.

The two of them were left entirely alone in the living room, completely paralyzed by the unnatural, suffocating heat tearing through their bodies.

Virginia bit down hard on her tongue, using the armrest of the sofa to haul herself up. "I... I'm going upstairs."

It was just some stupid aphrodisiac. A freezing cold shower would definitely fix this...

She practically ran, her knees buckling slightly with every step. She was entirely oblivious to the predatory, devastatingly hungry gaze tracking her every move.

The second Virginia stumbled into her suite and moved to slam the door shut, a large, powerful hand shot out and shoved it open.

"Archer, what are you—"

"Virginia."

Her heart hammered violently against her ribs. The scorching heat melting her from the inside out made her too terrified to even look into his eyes. "You... you need to calm down."

With a single flex of his arm, Archer forced the door wide open.

It was only then she realized that he had already undone several buttons on his shirt. His collar hung completely open, and a slick layer of sweat coated his muscular chest, his luminous skin glowing dangerously in the dim light.

His breathing was jagged and harsh as he stalked toward her, a wild, uncontrollable inferno raging in his pitch-black eyes.

Virginia swallowed hard, instinctively backing away until her lower back slammed into a heavy wooden cabinet.

His eyes darkened completely. Hooking his long leg behind him, he kicked the door shut before slamming his large hands onto the cabinet on either side of her, caging her flawlessly against the wood.

He ducked his head, resting his forehead against hers, his nose lightly dragging across her own.

"I'll... try to control myself," he rasped, his voice completely wrecked and rough.

Then, right under her wide, shocked gaze, he smashed his mouth against hers.

He sucked in a sharp breath, a flicker of brutal sanity cutting through the fog in his eyes as he took a huge step back, putting an arm's length of distance between them.

He shot her one last profound, agonizing look before turning on his heel and marching silently into the connecting bathroom.

The aphrodisiac soup was certainly powerful, but it wasn't nearly enough to make him completely lose his mind. The only thing that truly broke his legendary control... was her.

Seconds later, the sound of the freezing shower roared to life.

Virginia slid slowly down the cabinet until she hit the floor. Pressing a trembling hand over her bruised lips that still carried his intoxicating scent, her heart pounded so wildly she thought it might shatter her ribs.

After what felt like a lifetime, the rushing water shut off, and the terrifying, melting heat in her blood finally began to cool.

Archer emerged with completely soaked hair and a freshly changed dress shirt. Buttoned perfectly to the very top, he had instantly morphed back into the cold, untouchable, and ruthlessly disciplined billionaire he always was.

...

Two days later, at Virginia's apartment.

Hearing the front door unlock, Cynthia practically flew down the hall in her little slippers with Mrs. Benson trailing closely behind.
