His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 241

Bayview Manor.

Madeline Caldwell returned to the villa after leaving the hospital, looking utterly devastated. She carelessly tossed her expensive Hermes bag onto the entryway console.

She couldn't understand how things had escalated to this point, and she was entirely unsure if she should tell Chloe about what happened between Archer and Virginia.

Hearing the commotion, Chloe descended the stairs in a pale pink silk nightgown.

Her eyes darted, quickly masking her underlying impatience with a pitiful, delicate expression. "Mom, did you go to the hospital to see Virginia? Why didn't Archer come back with you?"

Madeline paused, her expression freezing for a fraction of a second.

"Don't mention him. He's with Virginia right now. Chloe, does it absolutely have to be him?"

She let out a heavy sigh.

The moment the words left her mouth, the fragile facade on Chloe's face seemed to fracture.

Her mind was instantly consumed by the thought of Virginia—that bitch was the reason Archer was treating her this way.

She clenched her fists so tightly her nails dug into her palms.

A second later, as if violently triggered, Chloe snapped. She grabbed the heavy crystal ashtray off the coffee table and hurled it directly at the floor-to-ceiling window.

A deafening crash shattered the silence as shards of glass rained down across the floor.

"Chloe!" Madeline screamed in sheer terror, her face going pale as she rushed forward to hold her.

But Chloe had completely lost her mind. Her eyes darted wildly, searching for anything within reach, picking up objects and smashing them against the floor with reckless abandon.

Expensive vases, designer lamps, and fine tea sets were all obliterated in her hysterical rage.

It was as if she believed he would vanish into thin air the moment she closed her eyes.

"Go to sleep," Archer said softly, taking a seat in the single armchair by the bed, his sharp, handsome features shadowed by an overwhelming exhaustion.

Eventually, the person on the bed fell into a deep, rhythmic slumber. Moving quietly, he stood up and left the room.

The moment he closed the door, he noticed Liam Kendrick leaning against the wall in the shadowed glow of the hallway sconces, watching him with a deeply complex expression.

Seeing Archer emerge, Liam forced a tight smile, a rapid flash of jealousy and agony darting through his eyes.

"Archer, does it really have to be this messy? We all grew up together. You know she can't live without you right now. Just stay by her side for a while. Once she gets better, everything will go back to normal."

"When the time comes for you to live your own life, no one will bother you."

Archer paused his steps and lifted his gaze to look at him.
