The next day, at The Fragrance Atelier.
Virginia wore a sharply tailored silk dress paired with modest heels. Aside from a stunning four-leaf clover diamond necklace and a matching bracelet, she wore no other jewelry.
Yet this minimalist elegance showcased her radiant, untouchable aura flawlessly.
She had barely taken her seat before the same socialites who had ignored her existence yesterday swarmed around her.
"Dr. Caldwell, whose couture line is this dress? The fabric is stunning."
"Dr. Caldwell, the man who picked you up yesterday... that was Mr. Vanderbilt, wasn't it? Are you two..."
Virginia kept her expression beautifully composed, offering only distant, polite smiles, refusing to take the bait.
She had already seen their true colors yesterday and had absolutely no energy to humor their fake pleasantries today.
Sitting across the table, Mrs. Langley's face was a stormy mess.
She had purposely worn the latest tweed Chanel dress, but this woman had completely stolen her thunder!
"What do you mean, 'Dr. Caldwell'?" Mrs. Langley scoffed coldly, aggressively setting her Himalayan bag on the table. "I've met Mrs. Vanderbilt before. Sure, they might share the same last name, but she is certainly not Virginia."
"Everyone in our circle knows how much Mr. Vanderbilt loves his wife. Who does this woman think she is? She's nothing but a dirty little mistress."
The surrounding chatter died instantly.
Virginia lifted her gaze, locking eyes with Mrs. Langley.
"Mrs. Langley, watch your mouth."
Her tone was even, betraying no shift in emotion whatsoever.
But her eyes were sharp, carrying an uncomfortable, biting chill.
"Where's my bracelet?!" Mrs. Langley sprang up from her seat, tearing through her belongings on the table.
"I took it off because I didn't want the smoke to ruin the metal. It was a limited-edition Bulgari snake motif bracelet! There are only three of them in the entire country... Did any of you see it?!"
The women around her exchanged uneasy glances, frowning deeply.
Everyone taking this class came from extreme wealth. Who on earth would steal a bracelet worth tens of thousands of dollars?
Suddenly, Mrs. Langley locked her furious gaze onto Virginia.
"You!" She pointed a shaking finger at Virginia, her voice raising several octaves. "You stole my bracelet!"
"...Mrs. Langley, you can think whatever you want, but you'd better watch what you say." Virginia calmly set her silver spoon down and met her accusatory stare.
"You dare deny it? You're the most pathetic, penniless one in this room! If it wasn't you, then who else could it be?!" Mrs. Langley pressed closer, her face twisted in utter contempt.
