I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 258

Hearing this, Caleb set down his water glass. "Honestly, I have very specific standards when it comes to dating. I strongly dislike arranged marriages or setups by elders. I want to find someone I genuinely connect with, both inside and out."

Sienna actually agreed with that sentiment.

Life was long, and finding someone whose presence felt comfortable was essential.

"Plus," Caleb said, looking at her, "I noticed your profession is in design. Since we both work in fields that require high aesthetic sensibilities, I figured we would clash less and get along much better."

"I'm an architectural designer. Maybe I'm just too used to talking with peers, but whenever I chat with people from other professions... how do I put it? I just feel like our minds aren't on the same wavelength."

Sienna raised an eyebrow. "Really? None of my friends are in the design industry, and we get along perfectly. I think you might be overthinking it."

"Not at all," Caleb shook his head, pivoting seamlessly. "I noticed your title said 'Designer's Assistant.' Which firm are you with?"

Sienna was straightforward. "I wrote that on my profile too. Stellaris Corp."

Caleb looked up at her. "I assumed you just listed a top-tier company to make your profile look more impressive."

"..." Sienna felt a spike of irritation. She let out a dry, exasperated laugh. "If I wanted to fake a resume to look impressive, why would I use the word 'Assistant'? Wouldn't 'Director' look much better?"

Catching the edge in her voice, Caleb chuckled dismissively. "I didn't mean anything by it. Alright, let's not talk about that. Let's just talk about design. You're in jewelry, right?"

Sienna gave a curt, "Yes."

"It's quite a niche field, but it makes sense. The demand for architecture versus jewelry is vastly different," Caleb said, leaning back in his chair. "Architecture shapes an individual's entire life. Maybe it's professional intuition, but the moment I walked into this private room, I spotted several structural flaws in the decor..."

He chuckled and lifted his wrist to flash his Rolex. "While many consider a luxury watch to be a status symbol, strictly speaking, it doesn't fall under your category of jewelry."

"That's not what I meant," Sienna said. "By professional sensitivity, I mean I'm highly allergic to chauvinistic pigs. The second I see one, I get an overwhelming urge to slap it. Do you know what I mean?"

Caleb froze.

Sienna stood up. She genuinely wanted to slap him.

Suddenly, the door to the private room burst open.

Before Sienna could turn around, a large hand clamped onto her arm, pulling her back. A sharp gust of wind brushed past her ear, followed by the loud *smack* of a thick stack of papers hitting Caleb squarely in the face and scattering all over the table.
