Sienna realized something.
Even though Jorrod had mellowed out toward her, his ability to hold a grudge was as strong as ever.
He relentlessly kept bringing up her previous teasing about his size, whispering it into her ear over and over.
The sensual atmosphere in the room, the steadily climbing temperature, their quickening breaths, and heavy pants—it was a night of unreserved passion between true lovers, one that practically set every inch of her body on fire.

She listened to the man's teasing, unable to formulate a comeback, which only made him laugh softly against her ear.
It was a magnetic, muffled sound.
It seemed to carry a vibration that sent a wave of numbness straight from her ear to her heart.
Suddenly, she missed that innocent puppy who knew nothing of the world, the one she literally had to guide by the hand.
The breed of dog he had become now was entirely too devious.
-
Over the course of the night.
Sienna lost count of exactly how many times it happened.
She was completely defenseless against the man's insatiable, greedy demands.
Later, she seemed to fall into a deep slumber.
The next time she registered any movement, peering through half-open, hazy eyes, Jorrod was carrying her to the shower.
When she woke up in the morning.
Her pajamas were neatly dressed on her.
The space beside her was empty and cold; he had clearly been up for a while.
Sienna grabbed her phone. It was already eight o'clock.
Jorrod should have left for the office early.
She got out of bed, slipping her feet into her slippers, and pushed the door open. To her shock, the living room—which had been a chaotic mess from packing yesterday—was restored to perfect order. Her suitcase stood neatly by the entrance, with her duffel bag resting on top.
"...Don't use 'impatiently' to describe me."
Jorrod swapped the word. "Sienna-eager, then."
"From now on, when you're shirtless, you are forbidden from wearing an apron," Sienna commanded.
"You prefer me completely naked? That'll have to wait until tonight."
"I prefer you to shut up."
Jorrod smiled, walking toward her and gently setting the breakfast down on the dining table.
Right in front of her, he untied the apron, draped it over the back of the dining chair, and took her hand, pressing it against a tiny red spot on his abdomen where hot oil had splattered.
His voice dropped low. "See? I got burned. That's why I had to wear it."
His excuses were perfectly rehearsed, but Sienna felt certain he was deliberately seducing her.
As for why she ripped his shirt yesterday.
"Being eager" was just the excuse she used. The real reason was that Jorrod kept hiding away, absolutely refusing to take off his top. It wasn't until she forcibly stripped him that she realized he was deeply self-conscious about the burn scars on his back.
