I Loved You in the Dark Until Someone Loved Me in the Light novel Chapter 41

Gillian’s weak attempt at pushing his shoulders felt more like she was playing hard to get.

York’s large hands seized her wrists. With one arm, he pinned both of her hands above her head against the wall. The man’s strength was overwhelming; she was nailed in place, entirely unable to break free.

His scorching breath washed over her, reminiscent of a wild beast prowling in the night, exuding a sharp, predatory instinct and absolute aggression.

Gillian’s heart pounded in her chest, a wave of sheer panic washing over her.

The man stared into the petite woman’s tear-filled eyes. His free hand grabbed her chin. "You didn't seem to mind when you seduced me into this marriage. Why play the virgin now? We aren't divorced yet. If I don't get to enjoy my wife, who does? Miles Stanton?"

"Does he even know you’re a married woman?"

Gillian’s eyes grew red, unable to hold back her emotions any longer. "Say what you want about me, but why drag him into this? We have a completely platonic relationship!"

She had no desire to drag Miles into the mess between them. Why should a gentle, innocent man bear such an ugly label because of her?

"I mention him, and your heart aches?" York asked coldly. "You want to keep it platonic with him, but does he want to keep it platonic with you?"

"As long as you are York Foster's wife, you will keep your distance from other men!"

"You demand this of me, but do you demand the same of yourself?" Gillian stared back at him, tears streaming down her face. "I'm so exhausted. York, you used to hate the fact that I married you. What will it take for you to finally let me go?"

"Let you go?" The man's grip tightened viciously around her wrists. The agonizing pressure of her bones grinding together made it feel as though they were being crushed.

"Who do you think I am? Some kind of charity? You think you can just wander in and out of my life as you please?" York’s gaze turned somber. "Since you chose this path, you better learn to endure it. You don't get the luxury of regret!"
