Ophelia swiftly used her golden flames to protect both Esmeralda and her. Even amidst the roaring, raging fire that was hurled into the cave, the fire shield, protecting them, remained motionless and inert.
Esmeralda could not have been more shielded from the heat.
Once the fire vanished, Ophelia rose up, pulling Esmeralda with her. As they turned to face the cave’s entrance, they saw a massive red–scaled dragon out there, glaring at them.
Ophelia squinted, and her dagger appeared in her hand. “Stay here, Esme.”
Esmeralda was shocked. “I am not letting you fight that dragon alone!”
Ophelia let out a sigh. “Red dragons are the most formidable warriors in Fireria, thus that dragon is different from the others we faced, Esme. They are inherently destructive weapons.”
“We can murder him together.” Esmeralda took Ophelia by the arm. She would never allow her to endanger her life on her own.
Ophelia scowled. She attempted to object, but the dragon’s fire–red, narrowed eyes met hers. Was this the new general of the Firerian warriors? The previous general was a dragon, the same age as Sheldon. He didn’t look so nimble.
Her fist tightened. In the midst of a blizzard, how in the world did he
discover them in this cave? Despite her amazing appearance, she refused to give in to his demands.
Why were her father and uncle going to such measures to make her return to Fireria? It was altogether too surprising that they had initially collaborated with Alexander and the red moon witches. And to know that the being they were collaborating with was the same one seeking to control

Nikolai…. It was…
“The sunstone.’
That word instantly rang in Ophelia’s head, and her eyes widened significantly. That stone and her had a past.
She and her twin, River….
She balled her hand, breathing control to contain her fire, causing her blood to boil all the way to her heart.
She would never return to Fireria if their desire for her sprang from their acquisition of the sunstone. If anyone forced her to return, she would kill them without hesitation.
Her dagger transformed into her flaming sword, golden scales began forming beneath her eyes, startling Esmeralda who had been staring at her
all this time.
Ophelia emerged from the cave and leaped out, her wings instantly sprouting from her back, before the dark fairy had a chance to speak.
“Whoever you are, I can give you one chance to live if you decide to flee right now.” She declared as she clenched her sword handle more firmly.
Those remarks caught Ophelia off guard, and the dragon’s eyes softened in an unexpected way. She was unable to pinpoint the emotion that was shining in those fire–red eyes.
“Why do you stare at me in such a way?” She glared at him while brandishing her sword. “By coming to me, you have already shown a desire to die. Do not make your wish stronger by gazing at me in that manner.”
The dragon was instantly engulfed in a fire–red radiance. His hybrid form was revealed as soon as the glow disappeared. Beneath his fiery red eyes were crimson scales, and his bulky, formidable dragon wings flapped gently.

He called out courteously, “Your highness,” with a composed, endearing grin on his lips.
His dark brown hair was slicked back, highlighting his keen features and penetrating eyes, which belied his pale complexion. He had a powerful, well–proportioned physique that complemented his towering height, befitting a warrior.
Ophelia cocked her head. He was blowing fire into the cave just a minute ago with the intention of killing her and Esmeralda, and now he was smiling
so serenely.
“And who are you?” She questioned vehemently.
He chuckled deeply. “I am hurt by that question, your highness.”
Ophelia was done listening. Rolling her eyes, she flew back to the cave’s entrance and landed next to Esmeralda, lowering her wings as she did so.
Her casual demeanor made the dragon smile. “I am Dominik Smirnov, the general warrior of Fireria and I am here on the order of Lord Esteban Viadislav to bring Princess Ophelia Viadislav back to Fireria.”
Yadisla
Ophelia frowned. She was right. He was the new general clearly resolved to follow orders. It seemed like he was seriously underestimating her.
Nevertheless…
“I am afraid there is no Ophelia Viadislav here.” Ophelia said in a controlled
tone.
Esmeralda nodded in agreement. “There isn’t.”
Dominik was surprised, but he managed to hide it by keeping a straight face. “Pardon me. But this is not a confusing situation.” Then he soared toward them, directly in front of the dragoness. “You are princess Ophelia Viadislav.”
Ophelia disagreed, shaking her head. “You are mistaken, Dominik, I am

Ophelia Novikov, Luna queen of Celestia.” She proudly made her
introduction.
Dominik was more than surprised. His eyes widened and he shuddered back. Ophelia Novikov? Novikov? Luna queen? She was married to Nikolai Novikov?! Abruptly a frown appeared on his face, and he stepped forward, grabbing her arm. “You have to come with me.”
“What are you doing?!” Esmeralda snapped, her bow and arrow materializing in her hands.
