I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 171

A heavy silence fell over the living room.

Then, Grant's furious voice shattered it.

"You rushed back here first thing in the morning just to ask about this?"

Yolanda held her teacup, taking a slow sip.

She set it down gently and dabbed the corners of her mouth with a napkin.

"Finn, I hate to say this, but is this any way to speak to your parents?"

Finn stared at them.

"Answer my question."

Grant slammed his hand onto the table.

"Enough! You've turned this family upside down over a woman. What more do you want?"

"She almost died." Finn's voice wasn't loud, but every word carried a crushing weight. "Because of that phone call."

Yolanda let out a soft scoff.

She looked entirely unbothered.

"Almost died? But she didn't, did she? If she were actually dead, you'd be crying at her grave right now, not standing here interrogating us."

Finn's fingers curled into tight fists.

He stared at her.

His mother was cold, ruthless, and utterly chilling.

"Mom, what did you just say?"

"I said," Yolanda met his gaze without flinching, "you came back here to corner your own parents for the sake of an outsider. Do you have no conscience?"

A freezing numbness spread through Finn's veins.

Grant chimed in.

"Let me tell you something. Whoever answered that phone, they answered it. Whatever she heard, that's her problem. You're tearing this family apart over this—who are you doing this for?"

No one cared that Sienna had nearly lost her life.

The tension in the room reached a breaking point.

Finn's eyes were bloodshot, brimming with hatred, but mostly, an agonizing pain.

Right then, Ford set his teacup down.

He stood up and walked over to Finn's side.

"Dad, Mom," his tone was unhurried, carrying a natural, soothing warmth. "Let's all just take a breath."

It was an approachable, comforting expression, like a gentle spring breeze.

"It's alright. I know you're just feeling guilty about the girl," Ford said, patting his shoulder. "Don't worry, Finn. I'll look into this for you. I'll make sure you get the truth."

A sudden tightness gripped Finn's throat.

In a flash, a flood of memories from the past rushed over him.

Every time he caused trouble and infuriated their parents, Ford was always the one stepping up to clean up the mess.

Ford meant the world to him; Finn would gladly walk through fire for him.

In this entire household, Ford was the only one who genuinely cared about him.

"Thank you, Ford," his voice came out hoarse.

Ford chuckled softly.

"Don't mention it. We're brothers, after all."

Finn's heart skipped a beat.

They were brothers, which meant they were similar in many ways.

Like their looks, and... their voices.

Finn kept his face perfectly impassive as he spoke.
