I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 115

Bonnie bit her lip. There was absolutely no way she was going to apologize to this woman. This was the same woman who constantly bullied Nora and made her miserable every time she showed up.

She hadn't done anything wrong. She simply didn't want that hand touching her hair.

Xander looked down at her, his gaze colder and heavier than she had ever seen.

Bonnie had always been an exceptionally well-behaved child around him, never requiring his constant supervision or worry. Rules and manners were practically etched into her bones.

But after spending just a few days with Nora, she had suddenly learned how to talk back and throw tantrums. He had never taught her this defiance. His decision had been a mistake; he should never have allowed Nora near his daughter.

"Apologize." His voice dropped even lower, turning dangerously frigid.

Bonnie's lip trembled. Tears spilled down her cheeks uncontrollably as she hastily mumbled, "I'm sorry."

The moment the words left her mouth, she spun around and sprinted away, sobbing.

Xander's frown deepened. He shot a sharp glance at his assistant, who immediately understood the silent command and darted off in pursuit.

He looked back at Finnegan and Seraphina, offering a slight nod. "My apologies. She lacks discipline."

Seraphina's smile remained perfectly sweet and understanding. "It's completely fine, Mr. Harrison. She's just a child, it's totally understandable."

Cassie stood nearby, her little head tilted up as she looked at Seraphina in utter confusion.

She couldn't understand why Bonnie hated Seraphina so much when Seraphina was clearly the nicest person in the world. Cassie glanced down at the plush toy in her hands, her mouth forming a pout as she decided giving away that bunny had been a total waste.

Xander and Finnegan exchanged a brief, polite smile before returning to their respective seats.

...

Bonnie paled in terror. Was someone coming? A kidnapper? She scrambled to her feet, ready to bolt.

Then, a gentle, familiar voice echoed behind her, laced with a hint of uncertainty.

"Bonnie?"

Bonnie skidded to a halt and frantically wiped away her tears.

Nora pushed the fire door open and stepped inside. The moment she saw Bonnie, a flash of utter shock crossed her face.

She had merely felt the concert hall was too stuffy and followed the signs to find a quiet place to catch her breath. She never expected to run into the little girl here.

When Bonnie turned around and saw who it was, all her overwhelming grievance bubbled over. She threw herself into Nora's arms and wailed.
