I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 181

The Medical Innovation Summit wrapped up near noon, and Sienna Sullivan's call came in right after.

Nora Newman stood on the steps outside the venue, frowning at the flashing name on her screen. She let it ring for a few seconds before answering.

On the other end, Sienna's tone was entirely different from the night before, completely humbled. "Nora, I was wrong yesterday. I know I was too anxious and had a terrible attitude. I genuinely want to apologize to you today. Let's meet at The Roastery where we used to go. Just the two of us, okay?"

Nora didn't refuse. She needed to get back the 500,000 dollars Sienna owed her.

At this point, talking about their friendship was meaningless. Paying back a debt was simply the right thing to do.

"Fine, I'll be there soon," Nora replied.

After hanging up, Nora had Felix Ford take Julian Zimmerman back to the research institute while she hailed a cab to The Roastery.

Pushing open the glass doors of the cafe, Nora spotted Sienna instantly, and her steps faltered.

She wasn't alone. Sienna was sitting in a window booth, waving enthusiastically at her, and a man occupied the seat beside her.

Nora paused, her brows furrowing. Her first thought was that she had walked over to the wrong table.

But after taking a closer look at the overly eager, almost guilty smile on Sienna's face, she knew she hadn't made a mistake.

She turned to leave again, her voice entirely devoid of warmth. "I have no intention of moving on right now. I don't need you playing matchmaker."

Sienna blocked her path with her entire body, grabbing Nora's wrists tightly. Her tone shifted from eager to desperately pleading.

"At least talk to him! Even if you don't date, you can still be friends. Nora, you've been single for five years. Don't be so stubborn. Finnegan isn't going to come back to life."

Nora raised an eyebrow, finding her words utterly ridiculous. Did Sienna really not know if Finnegan could come back to life?

They were all teaming up to keep her in the dark, genuinely thinking she was that easy to fool.
