I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 189

Seraphina watched helplessly as Finnegan's figure vanished at the end of the hall. A moment later, the deafening roar of a car engine tore through the dead of night.

She crumpled to the floor as if all the bones had been ripped from her body. The AC blast from the vent above chilled her to the core.

She never imagined Finnegan cared so deeply about Nora—so much so that he entirely ignored his unhealed injuries and abandoned his own fiancée, running off after another woman right in front of her.

She clenched her fists, a bitter wave of fury consuming her as her gaze slowly sharpened into pure malice.

Nora, I will absolutely make you pay!

Finnegan sped all the way to The Grand Regency. He abandoned his car right at the entrance, not even bothering to shut the door, and stormed into the lobby. His terrifying presence made the two receptionists jump in alarm.

He slammed his hands onto the marble counter, his chest heaving from the sprint, his eyes wild. "Did a man bring a woman in here earlier? A woman who looked completely out of it? What room are they in?"

The receptionist stammered, "There... there was a man carrying a woman who didn't seem okay..."

Hearing that she didn't seem okay snapped the final thread of Finnegan's sanity. Without letting the receptionist finish, he bolted for the stairs.

The receptionist called out behind him, "Sir, I wasn't finished!"

Seeing him ignore her completely, she rushed out from behind the counter to chase after him.

Finnegan reached the twelfth floor, sprinting in the direction Seraphina had mentioned.

There was a closed door at the end of the hall. The very thought of Seraphina's words—that Nora might be in there, being forced by another man—ignited a violent inferno in his chest, burning away all rational thought.

Finnegan whipped his head around and glared at her. "Why didn't you say that earlier?"

The receptionist looked deeply wronged. "You didn't give me the chance! As soon as I mentioned the man carrying her, you took off. I couldn't even keep up with you!"

Knowing Nora was at the hospital finally extinguished a fraction of the raging inferno in Finnegan's chest.

He closed his eyes for a moment, forcing his racing heart to slow down. "Do you know which hospital they went to?"

The receptionist shook her head. "I don't know, but a man carried her out of here."

Finnegan's brows slammed together again, his voice spiking an octave. "What did you just say?"
