I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 255

In the shadows of the fire escape, Sienna Sullivan stood trembling. She had escaped from the hospital, still wearing that faded, worn-out jacket, with white gauze wrapped tightly around her neck.

Her bloodshot eyes were fixed with a death glare on Nora, who was currently giving a speech on stage. Sienna's lips quivered violently from the sheer magnitude of her hatred.

They used to be thick as thieves, yet now Nora treated her with such freezing indifference.

It was Nora who pushed her to this breaking point. She hadn't done anything wrong; it was all Nora's fault!

Just then, her phone buzzed in her pocket.

Sienna retreated deeper into the stairwell, leaning her back against the cold concrete wall as she answered the text.

Seraphina's anxious voice blasted through an audio message. "Sienna, you need to calm down! Today is the press conference. If you do something crazy, it's going to be broadcast live to the whole country. Don't be reckless!"

Hearing this didn't soothe Sienna's emotions in the slightest. Instead, it only fueled her frenzy.

Her fingers flew across the screen. "I want Nora to go down in front of the whole country. This is her punishment."

The moment she hit send, a twisted, almost manic smile warped her face.

Seraphina's messages fired back rapidly, her tone even more frantic. "Calm down right now. I'm heading over immediately. Just wait!"

Sienna leaned against the wall and let out a cold laugh. She swallowed hard, then looked down and typed again. "I don't think I can wait for you. I'm going to make her pay right now."

After sending the text, she switched her phone to silent and shoved it deep into her pocket. Then, she fired off one final command to her hired help: "Is everything ready? Do it now."

Nora delivered her final closing remark and turned to walk back to her seat.

The very next second, the ear-piercing shriek of snapping metal violently tore through the air above her.

She jerked her head up. The massive chandelier overhead swayed violently, and before anyone could process what was happening, the massive fixture plummeted straight down.

Nora's pupils contracted in terror. Her instinct was to scramble backward, but her feet felt as though they had been nailed to the floor. She couldn't move.

In that split second between life and death, an agonized, frantic voice roared in her ear, "Watch out!"

Finnegan lunged from his chair, throwing his entire body at her. He shoved her out of the way just in time, taking the full, crushing impact of the falling chandelier directly onto his back.
