With that, Finnegan gestured for his men to surround Nora.
Nora watched them in sheer terror, utterly appalled by how arrogant they had become.
There were security cameras around. Did they really think they could just kidnap her in broad daylight?
"I'll call the cops!" Nora screamed, her voice finally halting their advance. Her chest heaved as she stood her ground, looking perfectly willing to fight to the death.
Finnegan paused, feigning exasperation. "Nora, I just don't understand. We only want to give you some leverage. Why do you insist on treating my good intentions like a threat?"
Nora glared at him coldly. "I've already made myself perfectly clear. Today is my mother and brother's memorial. I don't want anyone accompanying me! This is my family's business!"
Finnegan finally dropped the act. "Since you refuse to appreciate my kindness, there's no need for me to play nice anymore."
He turned around, barking an order at his men to grab her and shove her into the car.
Nora thrashed against their grip. "Let me go! Frederick, are you insane?! Let go of me! I said I don't need you to come! Can't you understand plain English?"
Finnegan acted as though he hadn't heard a word, casually strolling toward the lead car.
Just as they were about to force her into the back seat, a suffocating wave of helplessness crashed over her.
Was she going to be forcefully chained to the Fletchers again today?
Right then, a deep, icy voice cut through the air. "Kidnapping someone in broad daylight? I suppose the Fletchers have decided the law no longer applies to them."
Finnegan's men froze. Nora looked up, following the voice, to see Xander Harrison standing a short distance away. Clad in a crisp black suit, he radiated a lethal, commanding aura. His dark, predatory gaze cut straight through the tension, landing squarely on Finnegan.
As Finnegan's men hesitated, Nora seized the opportunity to rip herself free and sprinted frantically toward Xander.
