Pearl smirked and said, “Yeah, Ms. Sinclair, if I hadn’t spun that story, you never would’ve come. Pretty clever, right?”
A wave of panic twisted in Agnes’s chest. Rebecca had picked this guide. Where had she found people this reckless?
Agnes felt like she was losing her mind.
Agnes demanded, “Who sold me out?”
Pearl shrugged. “Don’t bother asking. I don’t know. I just take the money and do my job. I’m here to deliver you.”
Agnes tried to negotiate. “You just want money, right? I’ll pay you double, triple, five times what they gave you. Name your price.”
Pearl shot her a look of pure disdain. “Wow, Ms. Sinclair, you really think you’re made of money. But honestly, whether you’re filthy rich or just playing pretend, it doesn’t matter here. We have rules. We do what we’re paid for. If I took your money and let you go, I’d be the one in trouble.”
Pearl watched her with a sly, almost pitying smile as Agnes turned pale.
“Let me give you some advice since you’re so eager to throw cash at your problems. Just do what they say.
“If you follow orders, you might make it out of here. If not, well, you get what’s coming.”
Agnes’s voice trembled. “And if I don’t?”
Pearl leaned in, her grin never fading. “You’re not the first Aglorian girl to end up here. No one’s ever escaped. Some end up living large. Others just disappear. Just accept your fate, Ms. Sinclair. There’s no running from this. You’ll never get away. Good luck staying alive, Ms. Sinclair.”
Pearl’s words struck Agnes like a jolt of electricity, leaving her numb and cold.
Was her story really going to end in this nightmare?
A surge of disbelief, regret, and heartbreak threatened to swallow Agnes whole, tangled up with a thousand other emotions.
No one spoke as the van rattled down endless roads until at last it stopped outside a run–down house surrounded by nothing but trees.
Bisky yanked Agnes out. She looked around, heart pounding.
There was nothing here but wilderness and that ugly house.
Her nerves screamed as Bisky shoved her inside.
The door opened to a stench of cigarette smoke and sweat. A fat, balding slob in a stained tank and floral boxers shuffled out, a cigarette glued to his lips.
He gave her a long, greasy stare, then muttered something to Bisky before disappearing into a back room.
He returned with a wad of cash and handed it over.

Chapter 128 The Lie Comes Out
Bisky counted the bills, clapped the slob on the shoulder, and gave Pearl a look before walking out.

Terror clawed at Agnes. She ran after Pearl, shouting, “Hey! Where are you going? Don’t leave me! Please, take me with you! I’ll pay anything, just don’t leave me here!”
She barely got two steps before the fat man caught her by the hair and dragged her inside.
Agnes screamed and sobbed until her voice vanished, watching Pearl and Bisky disappear. She felt like she might collapse from despair.
The fat slob never even flinched at her cries. He was probably used to it. He dragged her down a filthy hallway like she was nothing.
Rooms lined up on both sides of the hallway.
Every doorway was covered with a dirty curtain. The air was thick with the stench of sweat, mold, and rot.
From behind the curtains, Agnes heard girls wailing and men shouting. The violence in the air was suffocating.
She glimpsed a man in one room injecting something into a girl.
The girl looked like a corpse- and bones, sores all over, eyes vacant.
Agnes was so horrified she forgot to fight back.
The man kept dragging her until a girl in torn clothes burst from a room, screaming for help, face streaked with tears.
A shirtless man chased after her.
The girl slammed into the fat man, bounced off, and crashed into the wall before crumpling to the floor.
The shirtless man grabbed her by the neck and hauled her back inside.
The girl thrashed and wriggled, smacking the man as hard as she could. The man, scrawny, found it hard to keep her down.
The fat slob snapped handcuffs onto Agnes and locked her to a rusty water pipe.
He pulled a bottle of pills from his pocket, grabbed the girl by the hair, and forced the pills into her mouth.
The girl fought him, spitting out a few pills that tumbled to Agnes’s feet.
Agnes shook so hard she thought she might collapse, but she managed to nudge the pills under her foot.
This scene came straight out of a horror movie, and she was probably the side character.
The girl was out cold in seconds, limp as a broken doll.
The fat man nodded at the shirtless guy, who dragged the girl back into the room.
He unlocked Agnes‘ cuffs and grabbed her arm again.
Agnes faked a stumble and crashed to the floor, snatching up the pills and hiding them in her hand.
