Chapter 157 The Truth Behind the Crash

Larry stammered, “I sometimes take shortcuts… It’s not strange to use a different route.”
Agnes said calmly, “Maybe that excuse worked on the police. You only got convicted of manslaughter.
“But I spent a lot of money on a private investigator. I know everything about you. Are you sure you still don’t want to tell me the truth?”
Larry’s body went stiff. His fingers clenched until they turned white. He said nothing.
Agnes went on, her voice steady. “Three years ago, you killed my mother. After you went to prison, your wife received a large sum of money.
“Then your daughter, who had leukemia, used that money for a bone marrow transplant.
“With some help behind the scenes, you only served a few years before getting out to reunite with your family.”
She paused, then added coldly, “But it seems justice still exists. A few years later, your daughter relapsed. The money is almost gone, and no matching donor has been found. So tell me, are you planning to kill again to keep her alive?”
Larry’s face turned pale as paper. His whole body trembled. His breathing grew fast and uneven.
“I didn’t… I didn’t… I didn’t kill anyone… I didn’t…” he muttered.
Agnes looked at him. “Do you believe in karma? What goes around comes around. Evil brings consequences. Your daughter’s illness coming back that’s your punishment. And next… it’ll be your wife. Then you.”
“Bang!” Larry fell off his chair, terrified. He clutched his head and kept mumbling, “Karma… karma… it’s karma…”
Agnes spoke again, softer this time. “But there is a way out. I’m here to help. I can save your daughter. I can save your family.”

Larry broke down. “What can you possibly do?! Years ago, I had no choice. I got pulled into something ! couldn’t escape. Once you step onto that path, there’s no turning back. Our whole family is trapped now!”
Tears streamed down his face. “I know it’s all my fault. I deserve to die. But why is God pushing me this far?! Sob, sob.”
Agnes ignored his collapse. She took out a stack of papers from her bag and placed them in front of him.
Larry looked at them. “What is this?”
“My blood test report,” Agnes said. “My match rate with your daughter is eight out of ten.”
Larry’s eyes lit up instantly. Eight points. Even siblings rarely matched that well.
At that moment, someone rushed out from the inner room. It was the middle–aged woman from before.

She bowed over and over, crying as she begged, “Please, Miss, please save my daughter!
“I know Larry did something terrible to your family. I don’t dare ask for your forgiveness. I don’t deserve
“But my daughter is innocent. She knows nothing. She’s still so young. Please, save her!
“I’ll give you my life. I’ll give you everything we have. I’ll do anything you ask. Please… please…” she sobbed
Agnes said firmly, “I can save your daughter. But Larry has to tell me what really happened that year.”
The woman turned and grabbed Larry, shaking him hard. “Larry! Say something! Didn’t you hear her? She can save our daughter! You killed her mother–you owe her your life! Talk! Tell her everything! Talk!”
She hit him again and again, like she had lost her mind.
Larry’s last bit of resistance broke. He slumped on the chair.
“I’ll talk. I’ll tell you everything,” he said hoarsely. “Just save my daughter. Our lives are yours.”
He finally began.
Back then, his daughter had been diagnosed with acute leukemia. He and his wife tried everything to raise money for her treatment.
But they earned very little. The medical bills were endless, like a bottomless pit. Every day felt like drowning.
They borrowed from everyone they knew—friends/relatives–but it barely covered a small part of the
cost.
With no other choice, Larry got involved in illegal work. Drug dealing. Money laundering. Violent debt collection.
Anything that paid fast, he did. He didn’t care about the law,
One day, through an introduction, he met a man with a scar over his eye.
When the man told him to run someone over, Larry hesitated. He was scared. This was murder.
But the money was too tempting. And the scarred man promised to pay for his daughter’s treatment.
He said he would make sure the family would live comfortably for the rest of their lives. After the job, he would even send them abroad.
Larry made his decision. For days, he practiced on that same road. He memorized every turn, every detail. That night, when the target appeared, and after getting confirmation from the scarred man. Larry slanimed on the gas without hesitation. The car hit Daisy and sent her flying.
As Agnes listened, tears streamed down her face. Her whole body shook. Every part of her burned with
rage.
