Chapter 183 The Details That Gave It Away
Floished
“This small curved mark is actually a brand logo,” Agnes said calmly. “We don’t carry this brand of blades in Grandridge. I asked a friend to help me search worldwide, and he actually found it.”
She paused, then continued, “It’s a very niche brand. Made by a small workshop in Doblaria. They produce a limited number each year. Every shipment–who it goes to, which wholesaler, which store–it’s all recorded.”
Agnes looked at Monica with a faint smile.
“If I remember right, Ms. Hale, you studied in Doblaria, didn’t you?”
Monica froze for a second, then forced herself to stay calm. “So what? I studied there. That doesn’t prove the blade is mine.”
Agnes tossed a few photos onto the table.
“You didn’t buy it. Someone close to you did.”
Monica’s face went pale. The photos clearly showed her driver at a store. He was caught on camera picking up that exact brand of blade and paying at the register.
That idiot. Can’t even handle a simple task.
“This… this is just a coincidence,” Monica said quickly. “He’s him. I’m me. It has nothing to do with me. And how can you be so sure the blade that cut me is the same one he bought?”
Agnes smiled.
“I told you. It’s a small workshop. Limited production.”
She pointed at the photo. “See the code on the blade? It marks the type, size, and material.”
She leaned in slightly.

“And for me, it solved a big problem. I checked. The blade that cut you has the exact same code as the one
r your driver bought.”
Agnes’s voice turned colder. “Ms. Hale, anything else you want to say?”
Monica’s face was filled with fear. She turned to Raymond like she was drowning.
“Raymond, it’s not me! Really, it’s not! Why would I hurt myself? I don’t even know where that blade came from. I only felt it when I was trying on the gown.”
Raymond’s expression didn’t change. If anything, it grew darker.
“Monica,” he said quietly, “when did you become like this? Why would you do something like this?”
Before she could answer, he continued, “If this is about Jillian and her kids, you don’t need to worry. They have nothing to do with the Newtons or with Agnes. They brought this on themselves. They’ll deal with it

themselves. I’ve already shown them more mercy than they deserve. At least they’re still alive.”
Monica’s legs gave out. She collapsed to the floor, trembling.
Raymond’s voice turned ice–cold. “If you targeted Agnes because of me, I swear–I will make sure you and your family won’t be able to survive in Grandridge or anywhere else.”
“Raymond!” Monica cried, her voice shaking. “Do you really have to be this harsh? Our families go way back! Generations of friendship! Are you going to destroy that over this woman?”
“You started this,” Raymond said flatly. “Go apologize to Agnes. Do whatever she asks. If she forgives you, I’ll let this go.”
Tears burst from Monica’s eyes.
“Why are you defending her?” she sobbed. “You’re already divorced! And yet you humiliate me for her? This is clearly her fault! I got hurt in her store!”
At that moment, her assistant rushed in, flustered.
She hesitated when she saw Monica kneeling on the floor, crying at Raymond’s feet, but still spoke up.
“Sorry to interrupt, Ms. Hale. There’s a problem at the company. The board is in chaos. Our cash flow has suddenly been cut off. Investors are pulling out. Everything is falling apart. Mr. Hale is panicking. Should you go take a look?”
Monica wiped her tears. Her eyes burned with anger as she glanced at Raymond.
“No need,” she said coldly. “I know exactly why. You can go.”
The assistant left, completely confused.
Monica stood up slowly. She wiped her tears and glared at Agnes.
“I’m sorry, Agnes,” she said through gritted teeth. “It was my fault. I cut myself and framed you. I damaged your company reputation. I even hired people to smear your name online. I’m sorry. I apologize. Please forgive me.”
Agnes, who had been silent, glanced at the man standing nearby with a commanding presence.
So fast. Looks like the chaos in the Hale Enterprise was his doing.
Then she looked back at Monica.
“The people who splashed paint at my store entrance were hired by you, weren’t they?” Agnes said calmly
Monica bit her lip. After a long pause, she forced out a single word. “Yes.”
“Hold a press conference,” Agnes said. “Go live. Apologize to me in public.”
“What?!” Monica snapped. “You–don’t push it, Agnes! I’ve never apologized to anyone in my life! I’m already lowering myself like this, and you still want more?”

She turned to Raymond again, her voice weak and pleading. “Raymond.”
