Grandridge’s night felt like a chess match, one wave settling only for another to rise.

After seeing everyone home, Agnes returned to the Newton Estate.

From a distance, she saw a tall figure standing quietly at the estate entrance.

When he noticed her, the figure walked toward her.

“How about this? I’ll cash in one first. Cook for me. As for the other, you can owe me for now. Sounds fair?”

Agnes sighed, stepping past him as she walked inside. “Sure. I’m tired. Good night.”

Raymond watched her retreating figure, a quiet sense of satisfaction rising in his chest.

It seems like…she doesn’t hate me as much anymore.

The next day, Agnes received a call from Polly.

She was a little surprised. Weren’t Polly and George taken to the police station yesterday?
