Love After Leaving: No Regret (Agnes and Raymond) novel Chapter 259

Chapter 259 Unraveled

“After several days of investigation and evidence collection, our team conducted interviews with the five victims, the hospitals, and the research institute.

“We reviewed their treatment data and found clear signs of tampering.”

As he spoke, the lawyer placed copies of the documents in front of each shareholder.

“Based on our in-depth investigation, including hospital records and interviews with people close to the victims, we found that all five victims shared a common characteristic: they were all terminal-stage cancer patients.

“At that stage, whether they took medication or not made little difference.

“We also tested that batch of anti-cancer drugs. Aside from false claims in marketing, the drugs themselves were not toxic.

“So these five deaths do not match pharmacological causes tied to the drug. They align with natural disease progression.”

At that moment, another lawyer stepped forward and held up a stack of photos.

“Before their deaths, every one of these victims had contact with the same person.”

He laid the photos out in front of everyone.

One of the shareholders gasped. “Isn’t this… Luke? The guy from the research institute we worked with?”

Others leaned in to look, then nodded in agreement. “Yes, that’s him. I’ve seen him at the company before.”

“Right, I remember. Every time he came, he went straight to Ms. Hale’s office.”

“Why would he be visiting those patients’ families?”

As the question hung in the air, all eyes turned to Monica.

She quickly tried to explain. “He only came to report on the drug development progress, nothing else.

“And if he visited the families, it was probably just to check on the patients. That’s normal.”

The lawyer continued, “This man, Luke Cobbett, is the head of the research institute working with Hale Pharmaceuticals on this anti-cancer drug.”

Monica slumped into her chair, her face pale, a thin layer of sweat forming on her forehead.

“According to our findings, the victims’ families have confessed.

“They told him and said these patients were already near death, so they might as well use them for some financial benefit.”

He took out several more photos, this time of transfer records.

“These families admitted they received payments from Luke.

“He instructed them to go to Hale Pharmaceuticals and create a scene, claiming their relatives died after taking the company’s anti-cancer drug.”

The lawyer turned to Monica.

“Luke has already confessed everything to the police. He stated that you, Ms. Hale, ordered him to falsify the data and that you also directed him to approach the victims’ families and carry out these actions.”

“Why don’t you tell everyone here how you took my dad from my mother and became Mrs. Hale?”

“You’ve got some nerve, bringing up your mother. She was the other woman!”

Agnes walked over and stopped in front of Bianca, looking down at her. Then she raised her hand and slapped her across the face.

“Shut your mouth. Say one more word about my mother, and I’ll make you regret it.”

Bianca clutched her swelling cheek and shouted, “H-how dare you hit me!”

Seeing her mother get slapped, Monica rushed forward to grab Agnes, but Raymond’s people blocked her.

Bianca saw that Raymond was siding with Agnes and broke into loud sobs.

“Agnes, you witch! You’re taking advantage of your dad being unconscious to pick on us and drive us out of the Hales!

“If he wakes up, he won’t let you get away with this!”

“I think the first person I won’t let off is you.”

A deep, steady male voice cut through the room. Everyone turned toward the door.

A middle-aged man in a wheelchair was being slowly pushed inside.

It was Calvin.
