Chapter 275 Living Next Door to Laila
Third–person POV:
Beside him, Luke cleared his throat softly. “Alpha, Ms. Conlay has already gone far. She’s out of sight.”
Samuel let out a quiet sigh and said nothing.
Luke sighed along with him.
Aside from Greer, he was the only one who knew Samuel had spent the entire night lying in that ice coffin.
That was why he had been so angry before.
He felt sorry for his Alpha.

But when his Alpha said that if the one dying had been him, he would have given up the mating ceremony as well, Luke suddenly understood.
Deep down, he knew that what Laila did was what she believed was right.
He said, “If only that mating ceremony had gone through smoothly, Ms. Conlay would’ve stayed here with our Frostwind Pack.“”
Hearing that, Samuel felt even worse.
“I don’t know why, but it’s like she doesn’t want to become my mate anymore.
“Every time it comes up, she changes the subject or just avoids answering. Luke, why do you think that is?”
Luke scratched his head. “Uh… well…”
By the Moon, he had no idea either.
He’d been single for over twenty years.
His own fated mate had run off right after a one–night stand.
He still hadn’t figured out why.
But seeing the way Samuel was waiting for an answer, Luke forced his brain to work.
“Uh… maybe she’s just being reserved? Or maybe she feels guilty toward you? Or… uh…” He stumbled over his words.
Samuel let out another heavy sigh. “Alright, Luke. I get it.”
He ordered, “Find a way to rent the place next to Laila’s den. Once Stick starts training the guards, I’m moving there.”
Luke blinked. “What?”
No way.
The Alpha of the Frostwind Pack wanted to move into someone else’s pack just to pursue a woman?

Silvermoon Pack
Laila arrived at the Silvermoon Pack first. After shifting back into human form, she felt much better after that long run.
It’s fine. As for Samuel, she’ll just let things play out.
Maybe if they spent more time together, he would forget the woman in his heart and fall for her instead.
It’s not like she was lacking anything.
With that thought, she walked into the den with a soft smile. Stick arrived a few minutes later at the entrance.
But the scent in the air told him that Laila’s mood had improved.
So he smiled as well and went inside, only to find Laila and Viola looking unusually serious.
He blinked. “What’s wrong?”
Viola replied coldly, “Nothing major. Just got word from home that my cousin is dead set on marrying Damian. The marriage is already arranged.
“I had someone tell her that Damian’s a bastard, but she won’t listen. She even said if we don’t let her marry him, she’ll kill herself.”
“Why?” Stick frowned. “Is she stupid? Why is she throwing herself into misery like that?”
Viola let out a cold laugh. “She’s not stupid. She’s very smart.”
“Marry Damian, and she becomes the Luna of the Bloodmoon Pack. She’ll have power, and she’ll be above everyone else.”
She used to think her cousin was ambitious. Who would’ve thought she’d end up wanting to climb her way up through a man?
And was Damian a good man?
There was no way he had his eye on the Stones for anything simple. Who knew that he might take them all down with him?
The more Viola thought about it, the angrier she became.
Laila asked, “Damian’s already left. Do we have people watching him?”
“Don’t worry. We do.”
Viola took a deep breath, forcing down the anger inside her.
Then she reached out and pinched Laila’s cheek. “Alright, Laila, smile. You haven’t smiled much these past few days. If I ever had kids, I’d want my pups smiling every day if I die.”
Laila swatted her hand away. “You don’t even have a mate. Where are you getting kids from?”
“There are so many men out there. It’s not like it’s hard,” Viola said casually, though her tone lacked interest.
