When Laila and her companions arrived at Thunder Pack, Evelyn hurried to greet them in the living room.

Evelyn’s nerves were on edge. Only days before, Prince Vance had visited alone under the pretense of checking on Shawn and

Lillian.

Everyone knew his real purpose was Lillian.

All of this centered around Laila.

Fortunately, Lillian insisted Shawn treated her well, and the staff supported her story, swearing Shawn spent every night in Lillian’s room to take care of her. Only then had Samuel let the matter drop.

Now, with Laila visiting again, Evelyn worried that Lillian might slip up and say something she shouldn’t.

Tiffany was still living under the same roof.

Laila didn’t bother with pleasantries this time.

She spoke directly. “Mrs. Foster, I brought two she–wolves with me today. They both have medical training. From now on, they’ll be responsible for all of Lillian’s meals and medicine. Once Lillian gives birth safely, I’ll take them back. I’ll pay their wages myself, so don’t worry.”

Evelyn finally felt her shoulders loosen.

She truly cared about the pup Lillian was carrying. She understood Laila’s intentions were for Lillian’s benefit.

Evelyn nodded. “Alright. But we should pay them something. It’s only right.”

Laila shook her head. “No. They’re not your employees. I brought them, so I’ll pay them.”

The message was unmistakable: Evelyn was not to treat these two as her own staff.

No pay, no authority.

Evelyn understood. “Fine, we’ll do as you say.”

After a while, Laila noticed Lillian still hadn’t appeared. She asked, “Where is Lillian?”

Evelyn quickly summoned a maid. “Go hurry Lillian along.”

Laila stopped her. “Don’t. She’s pregnant. No need to make her rush all over. Just take us to her.”

Evelyn realized the friends needed to talk privately. She had a maid guide them to Lillian’s room.

Inside, Shawn pinned Lillian down, thrusting into her. Blood smeared the scene.

He acted as if he couldn’t see it. He didn’t stop, rough and unrelenting.

Lillian sobbed, begging, “Please, stop… I’m begging you…”

Shawn snorted coldly. “Why? Isn’t this what you wanted? I took a day off. I didn’t even touch Tiffany. I came here to screw you first. You should feel honored.”

“No…”

Lillian felt her strength draining away. She had once longed for moments like this.

She used to find joy and satisfaction in being with Shawn.

Now, all she felt was pain.

He wasn’t making love to her. He was violating her.

He didn’t care about her feelings at all.

She kept crying. “No more. I don’t want this. I never want this again…”

“Really?”

Shawn paused, staring down at the woman beneath him. For a brief second, his heart softened.

Before Tiffany, he’d actually liked her.

Her smile had once made him happy.

He couldn’t remember when things changed. Now, every time he saw her, he just felt irritated.

He only knew he loved Tiffany now. He was obsessed with her perfect skin and the mysterious scent of her body.

Whenever he was near Tiffany, he felt as if he was in heat.

He even convinced himself Tiffany was his fated mate.

His wolf spirit insisted she wasn’t.

He didn’t care.

He pulled out and shoved Lillian aside. “Remember what you said. No more. And don’t go crying to anyone that I won’t sleep with

you,”

He turned to leave.

Suddenly, his gaze went blank for a moment. His mother mind–linked him, telling him Laila was here to see Lillian and he needed to act like a good husband.

He spun, staring at Lillian, still collapsed over the desk, half–naked and sobbing for air.

He knew he couldn’t let Laila see Lillian like this.
