Third–Person POV:
“That’s absurd!” Drogo’s face darkened as he snapped, “How can one battlefield have two supreme commanders? The Royal Court’s troops were trained by General Conlay. Prince Vance was as well. Even the armored war wolves were personally cultivate by Prince Vance to protect His Majesty. Who do you think they’ll listen to if not him?”
“Exactly. In terms of seniority and authority, only Prince Vance can hold them together.”
“Don’t think being the first female general makes you entitled to this kind of arrogance.”
The ministers spoke one after another, their rebukes sharp. Maris’s face flushed red, but her spine stayed straight, her gaze fixed the Alpha King. In the end, only he had the power to decide.
After a moment of silence, the Alpha King spoke slowly, “The reinforcements will remain under Samuel’s unified command.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
No matter how unwilling she was, Maris could only accept it.
Once they left the royal palace, Holt frowned and turned to her. “Maris, how can you guarantee we’ll reach the battlefield before the Solantian army? They’ve been on the move for over ten days. Even if we march nonstop from this moment on, we won’t catch up.”
Maris looked full of ambition. “Nothing is impossible. As long as we give it everything we’ve got, we’ll make it.”
“That’s easy for you to say,” Holt snapped. “At least 60 percent of the reinforcements are Gamma werewolves. They can’t march day and night. They’ll collapse before they ever reach the battlefield.”
“If you’ve got time to complain, you’d be better off going back to pack up, muster the troops, and move out immediately,” Maris shot back, clearly irritated.
“I know you’ve been unhappy with me lately. You think I’m inferior to Laila, that I can’t manage Ironclaw Pack property. But fil prove it to you. I’ll prove it to every werewolf waiting to laugh at me. I, Maris, am ten thousand times better than Laila. I’ll earn merit on the battlefield and take Ironclaw Pack to a whole new level.”
“Why are you bringing her up?” Holt’s frown deepened. “I have nothing to do with her anymore. And don’t you find this strange? Why would the Solantian werewolves ally with the Ovila Kingdom? Have they lost their minds? Did they forget the treaty we signed at Lovanfall Battlefield?”
Maris paused, then looked away. “How would I know? Those Solantian wolves have always been unhinged. Anything’s possible with them.”
“Is that so?”
Holt still felt something was off, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.
Maris snorted, then suddenly laughed. “Once we lead the reinforcements and secure Vagen Battlefield, I’d love to see Laila’s face. I bet she’ll be eaten alive by jealousy. She’ll regret breaking the mate bond with you and handing you over to me.”
“She won’t,” Holt said, shaking his head. “The Conlays have earned more merit than anyone. She wouldn’t be jealous over something like this.”

Chapter 45 Laila, Don’t Cry

Luckily, everyone’s faces had already been filthy to begin with, so no one noticed we had been crying. Otherwise, explaining it would’ve been a real hassle.
War was about to break out.
Our first feigned siege caught Ovila’s werewolves completely off guard. Their response was swift. They thought we were truly attacking the city and immediately gathered their forces to block us with everything they had.
We put on a half–hearted fight, then withdrew.
As we retreated, we heard their mockery.
“The werewolves of Rydar were useless. They thought they could take a city with just a few people, eh? Just because they had wounded some of our soldiers, they thought we couldn’t fight back anymore?”
“Marshal Vance wasn’t anything special either. What kind of tactics were these? Absolute garbage!”
But some were cautious. “No, something’s wrong. Samuel’s troops couldn’t be this weak. Better watch out for traps!”
We exchanged a glance and sped up our retreat.
After two days of rest, we launched the second siege.
This time, we sent in even more soldiers and made a huge show of force.
When we withdrew again, there were almost no voices warning about traps.
They only stared at us and let out mocking wolf howls.
Back at camp.
Samuel gathered the commanders once more.
‘It’s time!”
Both his hands slammed onto the table, his tall figure leaning forward, his eyes blazing as brightly as the stars in the sky.
‘Pass the order for a full–scale attack at dawn. Once we took Irilla, we would have an abundance of food. Ovila’s werewolves were loaded with supplies. They had come to Vagen with cart after cart of food and drink.”
At the mention of meat, everyone’s eyes lit up.
“Laila!”
Samuel looked at me. When I met his gaze, he pointed at a small circle on the map marking iritla. “Once the city fell, you will take 3000 troops straight to Lenir. That is where their grain and military supplies were stockpiled. Solantia and Ovila had many wounded now. Once the city broke, they would prioritize moving the injured. Food came second. After all, Simonne had supplies too, so they wouldn’t be desperate over it. But for us, we needed it badly.”
That was why Samuel had demanded we create as many wounded enemies as possible in the earlier battles.
On the battlefield, he never had a soft heart.
He was a prince who had awakened his wolf spirit at fifteen and led troops into the war at eighteen, so how
