Chapter 408: 408/Prepping for the VIP Client

Chapter 408

Julie’s POV

Robert’s face hardened like stone as he listened to my words, total shock dawning over his usually icy features. If he was trying to torture and humiliate me in this sick, twisted way, he didn’t deserve to hear an ounce of truth from me. Not a single word.

My own bitter whispers echoed in my chest: *"I left the moment I realized you were selling me out for nothing, Robert... but since you dragged me back here against my will, I’m going to make sure I get my revenge on you in my own way."*

I stared straight at his rock-hard, unreadable face, letting out a sharp, mocking sneer.

"What the hell is the matter with you? Are you really that shocked that you’re just an idiot mafioso who swallowed the bait like a complete naive fool?"

He didn’t utter a word. He didn’t even make a move. Instead, he just turned toward the door with silent steps, opened it, and walked right out of the room with an unsettling coldness, acting as if I hadn’t said a damn thing. I darted a quick glance at Sarah, who was still unconscious and sprawling on the carpet, before I bolted out the door myself, racing down the hall toward my room.

I slammed the door shut behind me and collapsed onto the mattress in absolute exhaustion. My mind was spinning out of control, desperately searching for a way to save my brother, Steve, and hurl Robert’s humiliation right back in his face a way that suited my bleeding, shattered pride.

Burning tears spilled down my cheeks against my will. My wretched heart ached with a furious curse every time I remembered how easily he had given up on me, and how utterly stupid I had been to fall for him that deeply. Now he was holding my brother’s life over my head like a knife, forcing me to live in this living hell just to keep Steve alive.

Suddenly, the door burst open with a deafening slam that echoed straight down the hallway.

I jolted upright in terror, only to see that bastard Thomas rolling into the room in his wheelchair. He leveled a sly, predatory glare at me, his voice coming out dry and raspy.

"Ah, Julie... so my son actually found you after all?"

I met his gaze with pure sarcasm. "Did you tell him where the hell I was?"

His lips curled into a bitter, condescending laugh. "Do I look like an idiot who would throw the snake back into my son’s arms?"

I locked my eyes onto his, frowning in genuine confusion. "I really do wonder why the hell you hate me so utterly much, Uncle Thomas."

He let out a crude, arrogant laugh that shattered the quiet room, sneering, "And finally, that sharp tongue of yours is working again!"

"It only works with scumbags, Uncle," I snapped with finality.

His wheelchair ground to a halt right in the middle of the room. He stared at me with an unsettlingly deadpan expression. "Have you thought about what I asked of you?"

I lifted my head high, solid determination setting into my features. "I am never donating my liver. Period."

His brows furrowed as a veiled threat dripped into his tone. "I can take your liver, Julie, even without your damn consent."

I stood up, stepping forward in sheer defiance, giving him a icy glare. "Are you going to rip it out by force, then?"

He snapped his head away, annoyed. "There are plenty of ways to do it... but I don’t want to resort to them right now."

I pressed my lips into a tight line, my voice razor-sharp. "If I kill myself, you won’t be able to take my liver or use a single piece of it!"
