"Let my husband go, or I’ll shoot him."
Carmella’s voice echoed through the area, only to be met with silence.
"NOW!" she screamed.
"Please, please..." Raka whimpered, his hands raised and his eyes darting between Lucian and Ashley. "Just do what she says. She’s going to kill me!"
But Lucian and Ashley didn’t move. They merely stared at Carmella, while everyone else kept their guns raised.
"Carmella..." Marshal nearly cried at the sight of his wife coming to his rescue.
It was certainly unexpected, but perhaps he would survive tonight after all.
Before tears could well up in his eyes, however, his gaze shifted toward Ashley’s hand—to the pistol she was holding. He looked up at her face and noticed that she was slightly distracted.
Meanwhile, Lucian glanced at his wife before shifting his attention to Raka.
"Lower your weapons," he finally ordered.
No one obeyed. Instead, they tightened their grips on their rifles.
"Now," he repeated, shooting them a sidelong glance.
Everyone exchanged looks before finally lowering their weapons.
"Put them on the ground!" Carmella roared. "Kick them out of your reach! Don’t make me repeat myself!"
BANG!
She fired into the air before quickly pressing the muzzle back against Raka’s head. At that, everyone placed their weapons on the ground and kicked them away.
At the same time, Marshal mustered his courage and lunged forward. He snatched the pistol from Ashley’s hand before yanking her against him.
"HAHA!" he laughed, wrapping an arm around Ashley’s neck and pressing the pistol to her temple. "You fucking bitch. You think you’re a big girl now just because you managed to corner me, huh?"
Lucian froze as Marshal glared at him.
"Take another step, and I’ll blow her head off!" Marshal warned, sneering at him.
Lucian’s jaw tightened while everyone in the madam’s faction balled their hands into fists. Yet Ashley merely looked at her husband and subtly shook her head.
She raised her hands in surrender.
"Please don’t kill me," she said, earning laughter from both Marshal and Carmella.
"Kill the bitch," Carmella urged, smiling as their chances of escape became clearer.
But alas...
"You’re making a mistake," Scott breathed, staring directly at Marshal. "Sir, you don’t—"
BANG!
Just as Scott tried to push himself forward and warn them one important detail, another gunshot echoed through the area. His face twisted in agony as a bullet tore through his stomach, sending him crashing violently to the ground.
"Ugh—!"
"You useless bastard!" Carmella barked, huffing and puffing as she kept her pistol trained on Scott. "You had one job, and you couldn’t even do that! I’m going to kill you myself!"
Scott clenched his teeth and looked down at the blood seeping from his wound. One of the men tried to stop the bleeding but froze when Carmella screamed.
"Nobody moves!" She turned toward Marshal. "Honey, let’s go!"
Marshal nodded, maintaining a firm hold on Ashley. He pressed the pistol harder against her temple and hissed, "Move. Don’t try anything stupid, or I’ll blow your head off!"
"Okay." Ashley nodded, giving Lucian a meaningful look. "Don’t shoot."
Marshal carefully dragged her backward, not daring to take his eyes off Dominion’s men. Meanwhile, Carmella’s gaze darted from one person to another, ensuring that no one tried anything.
Soon, Marshal reached her side.
"Don’t move!" he shouted. "If you want these two to stay alive, move over there—all of you!"
"Uhh..." Ashley drew a shallow breath before glancing at the other hostage. "Raka."
"Shut up!" Marshal tightened his arm around her neck, making her wince. "I’m not finished with you yet."
