When Sydney arrived at Seraph Villa, Florence was doing her rehabilitation exercises in the courtyard.

Sydney stepped forward and supported Florence's arm. "You're walking much steadier today than last time."

Florence smiled and patted her hand. "That's all thanks to you. It's cold out here. Come on, let's go sit inside."

The two had just reached the living room when Diana came downstairs. She wore a cream-colored coat, her hair pulled back, and her expression softened slightly at the sight of Sydney.

"Sydney, you're here so early?"

"I'm off today, so I thought I'd come early and give your mother her treatment," Sydney said.

Diana nodded.

The housekeeper brought snacks and beverages and set them on the coffee table. The three women nibbled on the snacks and chatted for a while.

Sydney then took out her silver needles and gave Florence an acupuncture session. Diana watched for a while before heading to the study to take care of some work.

After the treatment, Florence had the housekeeper bring out the herbal chicken soup that had been simmering all morning.

Florence ladled a bowl of soup and handed it to her. "Sydney, did you know the state government is handing out a science and technology innovation award next week?"

Sydney accepted the bowl and took a sip. "I heard about it."

"The Sterling Group's specialty medicine project made the shortlist. As the project's lead researcher, you'll probably be invited too, won't you?"

"Yes. Julian mentioned it a couple of days ago." Sydney set down her bowl. "But I'm not really into that kind of event. I'll probably make an appearance and leave early."

Florence was about to say something when the housekeeper hurried in from outside. "Madam, Mr. Sterling is here."

Sydney looked toward the door, slightly surprised.

Julian walked in wearing a dark coat and carrying two fruit baskets.

"What are you doing here?" Sydney asked as she stood up.
