Once a Doormat Now Untouchable (Caleb and Sydney) novel Chapter 754

After dropping Diana off at Seraph Villa, Julian drove back to Delta Mansion with Sydney.

Sydney leaned her head against the window as the car rolled along, and the tension gradually drained from her body.

After a moment, she murmured, "Leon never seemed like the type to be this stubborn. How can someone make such a production out of getting a divorce?"

Julian steered with one hand, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly. "The more interests are tied together, the harder they are to let go of. What he can't give up might not be Diana herself. It might be the Hutton name."

Sydney turned to look at him. "You think so too?"

"If Leon had truly cared about his wife, he should have started a few years ago. There's no point starting now." Julian's voice remained calm.

Sydney fell silent for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh. "I just hope Diana doesn't let this weigh on her for too long."

"She won't. She's a smart woman," Julian said. "She knows better than anyone what she needs to let go of."

Sydney considered his words and nodded. "Fair enough."

She settled back into her seat and watched the streets slip by outside. Then, without warning, a smile spread across her face.

"What is it?" Julian asked.

"Nothing," Sydney replied. "Things are just... good."

"What's good?"

She turned her head to look at him. "You're here. The baby's here. Alan and Eliana are doing well. Tiff's work keeps getting better. Madam Hutton's leg is healing. Everything is moving in the right direction."

Julian slipped one hand from the steering wheel long enough to wrap it around her fingers. "Things will only get better from here."

Sydney squeezed his hand and hummed.

When they pulled into Delta Mansion, Sydney checked the time. "Are you going to the office this afternoon?"

"I could, or I couldn't." Julian parked the car and leaned over to unfasten her seatbelt. "It depends on what you want to do."

Sydney thought for a moment. "I want to go to the hospital for a prenatal checkup."

"All right. I'll come with you."

Since they had already arrived at Delta Mansion, Sydney went inside first to let Agatha know, then left again with Julian.
