Tonight, he was going to make sure everyone knew that Stella was his daughter and that he was Julius Blackwood's father-in-law.
That way, he could continue using the title to his advantage, making business negotiations infinitely easier.
"I know, Dad."
For once, Chloe didn't argue. She wanted to marry into wealth, too. She wanted to live the extravagant life of a billionaire's wife, just like Stella.
Miranda chimed in, "I'll help keep an eye out for Chloe too, don't worry."
She fully intended to soak up the limelight tonight. She wanted all those gossiping, snobby socialites who looked down on her to see that she had the credentials to attend this wedding.
She was Stella's stepmother—which, at the end of the day, made her Julius's mother-in-law. After today's wedding, no one would be able to deny that.
"Dad, we don't have invitations. Are you sure they'll let us on the ship?"
Frederick smiled confidently. "Of course they will. We're the bride's immediate family. There's no way they'll keep us out."
"But what if they don't let us board? Wouldn't that be completely humiliating?"
Frederick replied with the cunning of a seasoned schemer, "Relax. They're far more afraid of being humiliated than we are. Think about what today is.
"I heard that aside from close friends, the guest list is packed with powerful politicians and business tycoons.
"If they dare refuse us entry, we'll just stand on the pier and announce to everyone that we're the bride's family. They can't afford that kind of scandal."
Chloe stopped asking questions. As long as they got onto the ship, she didn't care. Otherwise, the embarrassment would be unbearable.
If her college friends found out that she, Stella's own sister, didn't even have the right to attend the wedding, she'd never be able to show her face on campus again.
