Vita nodded. “Feels like many people think the same way. I probably do too.”

Lilliana nodded lightly. “For S–ranks like us, there’s a pretty high chance we’ll end up in the Military Command anyway.”

Vita thought about it and asked again, “Lilliana, do you know the number one Awakened Squad in Rowenville?”

“Yeah. It’s Ashen,” Lilliana answered immediately.

“They’re not the strongest when it comes to individual members, but overall, they’re considered the strongest squad. They also have the lowest casualty rate.

“The biggest reason is their captain. Alan used to be a legend at our academy. An S–rank Divine Sigil user with terrifying combat power. Back then, he could easily beat SS–rank students from the same generation.

“Ashen is famous in Rowenville. A lot of powerful families tried to send their kids there for training, but every single one got rejected.

“Our senior has a pretty stubborn personality. He doesn’t care who you are.”

Vita nodded again. She had asked around about him too.

The two finally arrived outside their dorm.

Vita took a deep breath.

“Lilliana… what if–I mean, just what if…”

Lilliana looked at her in confusion. “What?”

Vita hesitated before speaking.

“What if Steven isn’t as simple as he looks? What if he’s actually really strong? Would that change how you feel?”

Lilliana’s hand froze on the doorknob.

A ripple stirred deep inside her chest.

“How strong?”

Vita scratched near her temple awkwardly with one finger. “What if… he could already kill a level 2 beast?”

“Vita, that joke isn’t funny,” Lilliana said coldly:

Vita sighed. “Fine. I’ll tell you the truth. You’re my roommate, Lilliana. Some things will come out sooner or later anyway. If I knew and didn’t tell you, then I wouldn’t be much of a friend.”

A bad feeling suddenly rose in Lilliana’s chest.

Vita looked at her seriously. “Steven is nowhere near as simple as you think. He’s probably already a member of Ashen. And he can kill level 2 beasts. I saw it with my own eyes.”

At that moment, Lilliana felt like electricity shot through her whole body.

She froze instantly.

“That’s impossible!”

Steven waited outside the academy gates.

Soon, he spotted a sneaky–looking figure walking out. The girl wore a face mask and a baseball cap like she was trying to hide from paparazzi.

The moment Steven saw Bianca, he grinned.

Bianca stumbled forward and fell against his chest.

She looked up at him with wide, innocent eyes.

Steven quickly kissed her on the cheek.

The soft touch of his lips against her warm skin made Bianca freeze instantly.

Then her face turned bright red at a speed visible to the naked eye.

“Hey!”

She quickly covered her face.

“You jerk!”

Steven grinned. “Jerk?”

Then he kissed her forehead too.

Bianca felt her whole body heating up like she was about to melt.

“If you call me a jerk, then I’ll keep acting like one.”

Bianca covered her burning face.

She was so shy.

Should I call him a jerk again? Nope. I didn’t dare.

“We’re right outside the academy gates! What if people see us?”

Steven laughed carelessly. “So what if they do? It’s fine.”
