Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 136

Chapter 136 The Frost Queen’s Last Stand

Finished

Fiona watched Steven vanish into the trees and felt a bitter sting of resentment. Did this guy not have a single chivalrous bone in his body?

Would it have killed him to play decoy for two seconds?

The Bloodfang Rat’s target was crystal clear–it wanted Fiona and only Fiona.

One woman and one beast disappeared into the forest.

Steven swore.

“God damn it! This stupid, stubborn woman!”

He couldn’t actually let her die in here.

Steven closed the distance quickly.

From a safe distance, he watched the level 2 Bloodfang Rat pursuing Fiona.

The thing was clearly on the cusp of evolving to level 3.

If Fiona had been at full strength, she might have been able to take it down. But right now, she was badly injured.

And she was running on fumes.

She probably had less than a tenth of her power left.

Even as she ran, one hand was clutching a divine crystal, absorbing its energy as fast as she could.

The crimson glow of her Sigil pulsed visibly.

Steven shook his head. This woman’s brain was completely malfunctioning. She absolutely refused to call for help.

He licked his lips. He was fairly sure he’d caught a glimpse of something round under her shattered breastplate earlier.

Setting that aside, Fiona genuinely had an incredible body. Her skin was like white jade.

Those legs alone could probably stop traffic.

No telling which lucky bastard would end up with her someday.

Steven kept pace, staying hidden. He really couldn’t just let her die.

It didn’t take long.

Chapter 136 The Frest Queen’s Last Stand

Fiona simply couldn’t outrun the Bloodfang Rat.

It lunged with devastating force.

The impact blasted a crater into the ground and sent Fiona flying.

She tumbled across the dirt a dozen times before coming to rest, half–collapsed against the earth.

She stared down the level 2 Bloodfang Rat, blood still dripping from her chest.

Her right hand gripped the straight–bladed saber–a weapon of no small quality.

She was going to make her last stand.

She knew she had exactly one strike left in her. It had to be enough.

There had to be an opening.

The divine crystal in her hand never stopped absorbing.

A

She could do this.

Fiona, you can do this!

She would prove to that person that she didn’t need his protection to carve out her own place in this world.

The Bloodfang Rat charged.

In an instant, Fiona’s body erupted with staggering ice energy.

The third Divine Sigil in her palm began to pour out power at a catastrophic rate.

The sheer cold froze every blade of grass and every leaf around her into crystal.

In that moment, Fiona transformed into something like an ice queen–her surroundings becoming a frozen kingdom of frost and stillness.

The intensity of her ice energy was enough to shake the soul.

But the very next second, the Bloodfang Rat made one last, dying lunge.

If it was going to die, it was taking her with it.

Its nearly steel–hardened tail whipped forward with every remaining ounce of strength and slammed into Fiona’s chest–right where she had nothing left to give.

She couldn’t resist. She couldn’t dodge. She couldn’t even flinch.

All she could do was watch as the tail hammered into her breastplate.

The chest armor shattered.

A wet, sickening impact.

Fiona’s face contorted in agony as she coughed up a mouthful of bright red blood. Her body was hurled backward like a rag doll.

She crashed through several trees.

And finally, she stopped when she slammed into a massive tree stump.

She’d lost all ability to move.

Chapter 136 the Frost Queen’s Last Stand

Only the barest thread of consciousness remained.

Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.

Finished

She refused to black out. She forced her eyes to stay open, staring at the Bloodfang Rat as it convulsed on the ground, the frost blades still embedded imits body. It was beyond saving.

The convulsions slowed, the blood pooled, and the crimson light in its eyes faded until, at last, it went still,

Fiona’s expression was pained, but the crushing weight in her chest finally lifted.

She’d won.

She’d done it on her own–killed a beast on the verge of level 3 evolution.
