Fu Mingxue heard the angry roar from next door again.
She was speechless.
’What’s all the fuss about now?’
Just then, a very loud knock came from the door outside.
"Who could that be—I’ll get it." Mrs. Fu got up and went to open the door.
When she opened it, she saw a soldier with an anxious look on his face.
Before she could ask what was the matter, he asked urgently, "Excuse me, is Qin Tuan’s wife here?"
When Mrs. Fu heard he was looking for her daughter, she immediately nodded. "Yes, yes, she is."
Turning her head, she called into the house, "Mingxue, come out here! Someone’s here for you."
Then she turned back to the soldier. "Young man, please come in."
Hearing her mother call that someone was there for her, Fu Mingxue, who had been in the middle of her meal, immediately got up and went out into the courtyard.
She saw the soldier, his face anxious and beaded with sweat.
A sense of dread washed over her.
"Ma’am, please come with me to the hospital right away. Qin Tuan is in the hospital undergoing emergency treatment."
At the soldier’s words, the color drained completely from Fu Mingxue’s face.
Mrs. Fu was also stunned, her face etched with worry. "Wenhao’s been hurt? Is it serious?"
"They’re working on him now. Ma’am, please come with me to the hospital immediately."
The soldier said nothing more.
Fu Mingxue managed to steady her nerves.
She nodded sharply. "Let’s go."
Mrs. Fu wanted to follow.
Fu Mingxue stopped her. "Mom, you stay home and look after the children. I’ll go to the hospital."
She hurried out of the courtyard.
A car was waiting at the gate.
