Wang Xiang knocked on the door. Seeing it wasn’t shut tight, she pushed it open and went inside.
Just then, Mrs. Fu was coming out of the main room.
When she saw Mrs. Fu, she hurried over. "Auntie, I heard the two kids got sick again last night. How are they doing now? Are they feeling any better?"
Mrs. Fu replied, "They’re better. We wouldn’t have come home otherwise."
"Oh, Auntie, if the children were sick last night, why didn’t you give me a call? I could have lent a hand."
"It’s fine. My daughter happened to be getting off work, and we ran into Director Xie as we were leaving the military base. He was the one who took us to the hospital, and he was also the one who brought us home this morning."
"As long as they’re okay! Auntie, if you need anything in the future, you have to call me. I live right next door, so I’m just a shout away."
Mrs. Fu nodded. "Alright."
"Okay then, Auntie. You’re busy, so I won’t get in your way."
With that, Wang Xiang left.
Mrs. Fu went straight to the main door, closed it, and slid the bolt shut.
She was quite busy and had no time to entertain others from the family compound.
Before she could even mix the milk formula, there was another knock on the main door.
Mrs. Fu: ...?
’Someone else is here already?’
When she opened the door and saw Cui Meihong from next door, she was somewhat surprised.
After all, their two families rarely interacted these days.
Just then, Cui Meihong asked with a look of concern, "Auntie, I heard your two children had a high fever. They’re alright now, aren’t they?"
Since the woman had come out of concern for the children, Mrs. Fu couldn’t just give her the cold shoulder.
She said, "They’re fine now!"
Cui Meihong sighed in relief. "That’s good to hear. By the way, I brought something for the children to eat. You just got back from the hospital, so I figured you wouldn’t have any food in the house. This is some congee cream I made this morning. It’s the best for kids!"
"Thank you, but there’s really no need. The children have already had breakfast, and they aren’t hungry right now. You should give it to your own kids. Anyway, I still have things to do, so I can’t chat."
Without a care for what the other woman might think, Mrs. Fu shut the main door.
Cui Meihong’s expression stiffened.
