"You’re heading that way? I’ll come with you! It’s perfect, I was meaning to go see them anyway."
Her mother-in-law’s words were exactly what Fu Mingxue had hoped to hear.
After all, this had been her plan all along.
"Mom, get on then. You can take a ride on my bicycle."
Mrs. Qin’s eyes landed on the modified bicycle, a flicker of interest in her expression.
"Alright."
She waited for Fu Mingxue to get on before settling onto the back seat.
"Let’s go!"
Fu Mingxue immediately twisted the handle. The power switch had been moved to the handlebar.
Qin Wenze and his family lived about three streets away—not too far, but not too close either.
So, the ride over took about seven or eight minutes.
"Mingxue, turn in there. We’re almost there, it’s just up ahead."
Following Mrs. Qin’s directions, Fu Mingxue turned into an alley and soon arrived at a small courtyard house.
"This is the place."
As soon as Fu Mingxue braked, Mrs. Qin hopped off the back of the bicycle and went to knock on the door.
A moment later, Qin Wenze opened the door.
He had just called out, "Mom,"
when he saw Fu Mingxue behind her.
"Mingxue, you’re here! Please, come in. I’ll take the bicycle—"
He hurried to take the bicycle from her.
Fu Mingxue stepped aside.
Then she followed her mother-in-law into the courtyard.
She glanced around. ’This yard can’t really compare to the quadrangle I live in; it’s just an ordinary little courtyard.
Still, it isn’t exactly small.’
She didn’t comment on how nice the house was.
