Seeing two strangers with his family, he eyed them warily.
He then turned to the silver-haired old woman and asked urgently, "Grandma, what’s wrong?"
The silver-haired woman pointed at Fu Mingxue. "I accidentally fell just now, and this young lady helped me up."
Then she turned to Fu Mingxue and her mother-in-law and said, "Let me introduce you. This is my grandson, Rong Jun."
"Rong Jun, thank this kind, warm-hearted young lady for me."
Rong Jun did as he was told. "Thank you!"
When he looked up, he finally got a clear look at Fu Mingxue’s face.
He was utterly stunned.
"You... You are—"
Fu Mingxue looked back at him, confused.
Mrs. Qin, however, frowned.
"Grandma, she... she’s—"
Rong Jun was so agitated he could barely speak.
Just then, the man who had been looking for Fu Mingxue finally found her.
"Comrade Fu Mingxue."
The moment he spoke, Fu Mingxue’s attention shifted to him. "Who are you?"
Seeing the crowd, the man gestured for Fu Mingxue to step aside to talk.
Fu Mingxue gave him a look, then walked to the side.
"Who are you?"
"Comrade Fu," the man said quickly in a low voice, "I’m here from the Research Institute to get you. This is my work ID. Could you please come with me to the institute? It’s urgent."
He took out his work ID and showed it to Fu Mingxue.
Fu Mingxue took the ID and examined it carefully. Once she confirmed it was legitimate, she handed it back.
"Alright. Let me just tell my family."
